Kershaw Knives News Thread

I got the bleeding to stop, and I think I'll be okay. I hate not being able to work out though. I dont want sweat to get to the cut yet...

I am expecting 2 Kershaws later on in the week. A Spec Bump and a Cyclone are on the way. I haven't been able to handle either one of them, since I seem to live in a hole. I cant find a good cutlery shop anywhere. Ordered them from looks and all the positive feedback I have seen here. Hope you guys are right!

A Smith

Happy to hear your alright, and I don't blame you for not working out it would probably not feel great to get sweat in a fresh wound like that. Take it easy Jeremy.

AWGunS, you won't be disappointed nice purchases. I have the same problem as you there are no good cutlery shops here, the nearest place is about an hour drive. So all the reviews here really help in my decisions on what to buy.

Did anyone see a Kershaw/Lee Williams NRG thread? I thought for sure someone would start one. :D

What about Ken Onion's knives?

I like to see this one:

and Taboo:

made by Kershaw.

Thanks, Vassili.

Can anyone here tell me where i can find the Kershaw survival knife that came out around 1986?I had one in my truck that was stolen.I got the truck back but everything inside was gone.I carried this knife with me everywhere. It was my sidekick. It had the sheath with the waterproof survival cards for shelter and food.Anti freeze handle and sawblade back.
Any help apreciated,i miss my knife and i hope i never see it in somebody elses hands...:thumbdn:

Gah! Did I mention I would give my left nut for a KO custom?? I doubt KO would make that trade. Anyways, sorry to hear about your knife Prariedog. I'm pretty sure there's a place in hell for those who mess with another man's knife. I think the knife you're talking about is the Model 1005. I can't seem to find it anywhere on sale. Maybe try a search online and perhaps you'll get lucky.

I recently bought a Kershaw mini Cyclone, I am not a fan of assisted opening, but I am a fan of Kershaw and Ken Onions collaborations. I've reversed the clip, put a lanyard on it, etc. Is there a way to remove the AO option, or at least permanently disable it? The AO switch does not look like it will accidentally arm the AO, but I would like to remove it altogether. Thanks.

Fudo, I had meant to get back to you earlier with answering this.
As some of you may know the Model #3000 D.W.O's, were knives that we had made in remembrance of Delley Wade Officer who was a Game Warden killed in a hunting accident.
These 3000 series knives were all named for Oregon locations around the area where the tragedy occurred.
3100 Grant County
3115 Corral Creek
3120 Black Gulch
3140 Wildcat Ridge
The 1400 series Starkey Ridge was another knife named after a similar location

Another Mystery Solved! Thank you,Thomas:thumbup:

(Rant mode ON)
I would like to see more future Kershaw models made with nothing but Stud Locks. Kershaw could not go wrong in adopting it as one of the signature features of their folders; The same as Benchmade is recognized by its Axis Lock.

Of course Kershaw already has Speedsafe but, IMHO, the Stud Lock is being underutilized as a valuable marketing feature; The combination of 'Speedsafe' and 'Studlock' would go a long way to further spotlight Kershaw's unique marketing niche.

This lock is good for so many reasons:
1 - It is the more convenient and easy to use than any other type.
2 - Mechanism is visible and accessible for cleaning if necessary.
3 - Locks the blade forward of the pivot pin giving a leverage advantage for strength of lockup.
4 - Does not interfere with any part of the frame.
5 - Looks way cool!

I have my Spec Bump for awhile now. When I use my other knives I often momentarily try close them with the stud, out of habit. It never happened to this degree with any of my other knives. Just had to get this off my chest. (Rant mode OFF)

I'm pretty fond of the stud lock and would buy more. I do think it should be used more often. However, there's a significant percentage of BF members that seem to despise it (I don't know why). Even benchmade produces a lot of folders that are not axis locks.

They've got one lockback and at least three liner locks for sale right now off the top of my head, not to mention the balis. At least some diversity is needed, no one agrees universally on locks.

But ultimately, yeah, I've love to see more stud locks.

It's pretty awesome, but looks like a challenge to manufacture. Of course, so does ponying up 3k for the real thing.

Kershaw doesn't have to make the handle exactly like the KO custom, the things I love about the Taboo are the blade shape and the handle curves. i could live without the g10/carbon fiber inserts.
