Kershaw Knives News Thread

I received my ZT0200 today (finally). This thing is huge. I got the combo edge and my first impression of the serrations was that they did not feel all that sharp. However after cutting throught the UPS box the knife came in the serrations are plenty sharp. The straight edge of the knife is sharp enough to shave with right out of the box. The overall constuction of the knife is extremely solid, I am very impressed with this knife. I can't believe how thick this liner lock is and it feels really solid. Ken Onion and Kershaw did a really good job on this knife I can't say enough about how much I am impressed with this knife.

I just googled Kershaw G-10 Offset and crocblades.com has a pre-sale with a picture. The G-10 looks a lot like the Spec Bump, just wondering if anyone else had seen this.

Not long now until the new Kershaw Website will be launched! I can't wait!

Thomas, will the printed catalogs soon follow? Sign me up for the first one!

Jeremy, the Groove's have shipped (limited numbers), and will be in full production in Jan. Both JYD's and the Need's Work are also scheduled for Jan. as well.

The web site I am hoping to go live in a week or so. 07 catalogs are a couple of weeks out.

Also 500 pieces of a Ti/ZDP Mini Cyclone will also be out in mid/late Jan. MSRP $240

jamarlatt, the texture pattern on the G-10 Offset is similar to the current Spec Bump's, good eyes. I have an image of the G-10 Offset, if anyone wants to post the pic please email me.

Ok, Thomas. Since everyone is asking questions about the '07 line up, (I did in another thread) I'll ask another one too.

I heard a rumor about a 'super' leek..... I know several of us have asked for a bigger leek. I'm hoping if it's true that a Ti-ZDP version would be available. I'd hock one of my grand kids to get one of these. :D :D

rnr, sorry no plans for a "Super Leek", go ahead and pull the grand kids off the market.

Heres one..

Thanks for the info Thomas and for all your hard work! Happy New Year!

The ZDP Cyclone sounds great!

Hey guys , just bought my first Kershaw in many years , this one is a Scallion.

I have some praise and one major gripe.

Praise - What a nicely put together knife , especially for the price. The AO is top notch , the blade was shaving sharp and I LOVE the little recurve on it , the whole package is very handsome indeed considering I paid less than $40 for it.

Gripe - The lock. It is a shame on such a nice knife to have such a poopy lock , the bar does not come far enough in to make the lock secure enough for many of the uses I can imagine , such as possible self defense if it came down to it. The blade does lock and with zero blade play but I wish it engaged further over , this is something I will probably do myself with my fle tonight. I also wish the blade keep would have been made from steel rather than plastic, it just seems chinsy to go so far good on a knife , then to skimp on a couple of pretty key factors , hope that made sense.

Overall , I do like this knife a lot and it will certainly be circulated into my EDC roatation.

Todd

JI have an image of the G-10 Offset, if anyone wants to post the pic please email me.

You may send it to me.

Thanks, Vassili.

You may just send me pics of your knives any time without asking (better 1000 pixels wide jpeg)

The new offset looks fantastic. Day to day I change my mind on whether or not it's too big for me, but I am very interested in it. I wonder if this will affect the prices of the old Offsets.

Here's a link to crocblade's page for the G10 offset, with a pretty good (different) pic and pricing:

As per the scallion, if the lock works at its level of engagement, it works...is the lockface fully on the tang or just partially on? As long as the lockface is fully on the tang, getting it farther along the tang probably won't make any difference except to make it that much closer to reaching the other side.

It's an entry level AO folder..I've bought two for gifts and to experiment with AO for my first time, and they worked very well...the steel isn't great, but the knife is a compromise of things at that price...steel liners (as I recall), flipper, AO...something had to be sacrified...consider one of their 13C26 models for an upgrade for not much more money (the Storm is fantastic).

Oh, and one more request--please bring back uncoated Spec Bumps--doing the speed/spec combo doesn't bother me at all either...in fact, I might rather have it just to play with some 13C26 again.

Cyblade, Northside folders are in AUS-8, not 420J2.

Rosconey, 500 pieces of both JYD's are shipping in 10-14 days, full production in Feb.

good I was afraid that yet another great knife company was starting down that slippery slope to the dark side. when are they coming out ?????

OK, I just ordered a ZDP189/Ti Leek. Anxiously waiting for it's arrival. Now you go and make a ZDP/Ti Mini-Cyclone? What the _ _ _ _! Where can I order one of the first bunch?
