Kershaw Knives News Thread

Anyone have a Needs Work yet? I like the shape, size, steel, and cost of that knife. I'd like to hear some opinions.

Yeah, wassup?, says aluminum, but the part number says TIZDP, looks as if the listing description is wrong?

Yes their discription is wrong, these Mini Cyclone's do have Titanium scales, not aluminum.

The Needs Work is a neat little knife. Assisted opening is typical Kershaw (read the best here) and the overall performance was pretty good on it. I love the blade. Its a great user shape for the everyday grind. I felt the handles could be improved on but to do that I'm sure the price point would have to change. After seeing the liner thickness of the JYDII I guess I expected to see that in all Kershaw's line up but the liner of the Needs Work was the thinner style. It was stainless though so it will still wear great.

well i just got back from a knife show and picked up 3 new kershaw junkyard dog, groove and a boa. I really like the weight and feel of the groove.

I went to the tulsa show. The only kershaws that I dont have that I passed on were the bumps (sped, spec and original), the JYD II I did see the new needs work not a bad one put not really my style. I was wanting to get the random leek but no one had it. I was very close to getting the steven segal but I did not want to spend any more money.

I recently saw the JYDII at my local store and wow, it's an amazing knife! So buttery smooth. Don't even need to flick my wrist. I'm deciding between that and the aluminum Speed Bump right now...hmmmmmm. So many nice offerings from Kershaw.

this summer im either going to be purchasing a Kershaw Spec Bump or a Kershaw Offset (G-10. wish i could get the aluminum version. i think thats cool.) im not sure how much the spec bump costs where im going to buy one of these, but the offset will cost about $120 or so. yeah i know, that is very cheap for the offset. i am buying it from a local knife dealer.

ive previewed the spec bump there, and i love it, though i do think the stud lock is a bit "soft" on the closing of the knife. it scared me when i closed it though. i didn't realize it would go to a 90 degree angle so fast, i thought it was going to close on my fingers. but i still have all of my fingers so i think i like it.

the offset i have not tried out in person, but i will in about a month when they get their first shipment in. if you guys have any opinions on the offset and or spec bump let me know.

im leaning towards the offset though just cause ive been eyeing it for years now, and will have the chance to get it.

Hello...Is anyone having trouble with a stud lock as in on their Spec Bump?
I bought a Speed Bump a few months ago and the lock was a little stiff at first, but was O.K. after some Tuf-Glide. The Spec Bump that I got in the
mail today is very difficult at itmes to unlock [pull lock forward to close]
:( It now seems to be locked open...Help...William

edit: I had to use the rounded tip of a butter knife to get it shut. I guess I will call the Kershaw 800 Number Monday. What a shame as this knife appears to be extremely well made. At least the blade missed my left palm, but it was TCFC.

dang it-i found a zdp mini cyclone on ebay from flamesnknives after doing a google and finding none-then i reread this post and find one from a good dealer -i hope the recent trend of good service from flamesnknives is legit posts in gbu are so so at best-

edit-just looked at my email-they sent a reply to my question of it being in stock and will ship monday-

Hello...Is anyone having trouble with a stud lock as in on their Spec Bump?

I have a Spec and a Speed bump, and I've never had any problems with the stud locks. Kershaw service is very good though, just give them a call.

rosconey2, could you tell me the name of the knife pictured in ur avatar? it looks awsome

its a custom by yuna-yunaknives.com

sorry if this is off the subject

that is awsome. id love to get one of ken onion's customs......................but i have little money

I know that Thomas said that there are no plans to further the "Bump" line of knives, but I've been reading these forums for a while and it seems that a lot of people carry the Spec Bump as their EDC. I just thought that if there were a 1596ZDP we would all get to go out and buy some more knives.
I would love to have a ZDP knife, but the Leek and Cyclone are just not for me. What about a ZDP Spec Bump, Thomas?
enjoy.
