Knifemakers Christmas season gift exchange!

I'm Mike Cantrell (some of us have names easier to guess than others, based on screen names). By day, I'm a homeowner's insurance claims adjuster. That means I have to poke around in attics and basements asking questions like "What exactly is leaking?" "Where did the fire start?" "How bad are the shingles under this limb?" I'm a utility knife kind of guy

SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE
All participants need to post their handle and their real name in this thread. If you are mallninja99 and we have only the name John Johnson as a receiver, we may never know who got it.
It also might help decide what type of knife to make/send. A little reading of past posts may determine if the person is a big hunter, or a marine, or a chef......well, you see where I'm going.

Stacy Apelt - aka Bladsmth

( Scott,do you have a master list you want to post?)

I have a Master list of names. When I get time later today, I will cross reference it and put the Blade Forums names together with the real names and post it here.

jonathan "docdredd" silas
former combat medic (thus the handel) i love anything sharp!

Tom Kernan, easy.
The Seattle area has been my home for allot of years. I have 2 kids and a great wife who supports my knife making. My work is done in a shop with two Rotts who steal my gloves, tongs, hammers or what ever. I just like too see what other people are doing so send what YOU like and it will make my day.

Grease-man= Matt Gleash

Got my letter in the mail today also! Just got in from working on it for 3 hours. Things are looking great so far, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed! -Matt-

L.K.Smithy AKA Lou Kovanda. i love all knives. i have a soft spot for knives far bigger than needed, but carry a 4 inch blade fixed blade every day. and a 12 inch bowie camping, a 7 inch fighter hunting, so, any knife of any kind will make me a happy steel fiend. cant wait to get my letter. im heading out to the shop to work right now! pics soon.
-Lou

My Name is Jarod John Todd, why i got stuck with all first names i will never know. At first people try and spell my name jared then i tell them there is no e its an o. and there like why is it spelled like that. I dont know, so asked my fokes and thay told me thats how thay thught it was spelled :foot:. thay probabley should not tell people that thay might think there not much fer book learnen. o well. i like any knife as well but i have been accused of having a large knife straped to me as well as my pocket knife. you can never have to many knives. i am very excyted as i have never handled or used another makers custom knife.

Erik Boese :D

Here are a coupld of mine...well, to the person whose name I have :) It's ATS-34 (steel was given to me, so I thought it was fitting for a gift). Have just a few minor scratches on the one bevel left to sand out before HT. Did a little basic filework on the spine for a thumb grip. Sorry for the fuzzy pics, just snapped with the cellphone. Haven't decided on a handle material yet. Have to dig through the box and find something nice. If I have some of the cherry that Mr. Todd (not the one participating in the exchange) gave out stabilized, I'd use that (yet another gift for a gift). I'm thinging right now either ebony or some burl. Decisions decisions.... Hope ya'll like it...expecially xxxxx xxxxxx (receiver's name deleted :D)

Robert ( Butch) Silver -- I love knives but the few I've made stay home, not the greatest. The guy whose name I got will get a tomahawk, and I hope he will be happy with it.Been blacksmithing for about 10 years, made a little of everything, tables, chandiliers, firescreens and a lot of etc.One of my hawks is my avatar-I check this site everyday lots of info and a lot of laughs----

I am Bill Siegle but on the forums they call me Bill Siegle :D Got my letter today and will be grinding this weekend. Still don't know what I want to make but I am looking foward to it :) As to my likes? I like sharp stuff. I hike and camp as much as I can but I also carry small blades occasionally instead of a folder. Honestly though anything sharp works for me :)

SBuzek on the boards but most folks callme Stan, and if it has an edge and made of steel I'm gonna like it.

Stacy,
Great idea. Here is a list of peoples full names and their bladeforums screen name. Some of you are already posting what you like, etc.

I'm personally going to do what I always do, which is make what I like to make and enjoy making. I did do a little research and will be making something that is hopefully going to be enjoyed and used by the person that I am making for. I think I have a very good idea of what he likes, and it is actually very similar to what I like.
