Knock-Off, Counterfeit, Fake Bucks & The Americans Who Sell Them

kgrhqzlgffrztsbrgbu7egz.jpg

This (no tang stamp) from a seller, Nashua, New Hampshire, who pulled one of his listings after reading this thread, thank you members and seller:

"i am a small seller. Buy in batches of 10 or 12 from wholesaler and re sell.
i am unaware that knife is counterfeit, thought it might be a factory overrun.

i am no knife expert, but want you to know that I have had positive reviews from every purchaser.

i removed item for sale while I do additional research.

thank you for the heads up."

I got the same thing, word for word from that guy.

Keen observation. The language from each vendor is similar (innocent, happy customers, blame evil wholesaler).

The talking points are provided by the wholesaler's organization/criminal cell along with merchandise and photos. This is organized financial warfare. For some it is a call to duty (you know who you are). For others, sadly, it is another reason to complain and expect others to join the fight.

I believe that some of the sellers receive some coaching from the distributors of the fakes. I've had three different sellers tell me that they had no idea they were fake. They said that they had bought out the knife inventory of a sporting goods or a fishing tackle store that was going out of business.

The wording of the three different messages I received were just too close to be a coincidence in my opinion.

OK Guys,

This project may be better served as a sticky, especially if I have your support that you intend to make it part of your future BF doings. But, l sure don't want to get half a page of stickies on our forum either. I would like to see the info be concise to make for easy browsing, and it be policed by ALL members to prevent rambling, gossiping, China bashing. Any of that an it will get closed down. I agree with the early statements it needs photos and as much early warning as forum rules allow. Let me contact some experienced Moderators and discuss with them and I will get back with you. I think a title would be : Counterfeit/Fake Buck Identification. 300

First I have seen this thread...It would cost Buck a LOT of money to bring action against sellers or makers..I wish Ebay could be FORCED to stop them..

I haven't seen this one for sale here in the US yet, but it's just a matter of time I'm sure.
Note the differences in the grooves on the scales, the pivot screw and no Buck stamp on the pocket clip. I've yet to see one of the fakes that has a Buck label with the model number and bar code either.

Pictures of the real thing are posted below each picture of the fake for comparison.

Before posting anything else here, please read our Moderator's post regarding making this a sticky. I've added a link to it in post #2 of this thread in case it get's buried and out of sight.

Seller location: Niagara Falls, New York.

The Buck Talus does not exist. No tang stamp.

I assure you sir that you are completely, utterly and totally wrong.

Canadian Tire is a massive hardware chain in Canada with hundreds of stores across the country. They would not sell fake Buck knives.

The Talus most definitely exists.

Edit: You might notice that the second picture you posted is the ad copy from the Canadian Tire website. The Talus does indeed not have a tang stamp on the presentation side of the blade. I would also point out that if this is a custom model made for Canadian Tire, it would not be the first. Buck still makes the Buck Lite 424 specifically for that retailer.
