Don't know about his current activities, but if he were a "Scammer", I reckon I wouldn't of received my knife at all.
I DO believe he has his priorities screwed up, as is evidenced by his posts here. I just want him to do the right thing.

So you DID get your knife back?
HELL NO! I returned it for repair or replacement. Never got one back.
I'm just saying that a scam artist would not of sent my original order. Maybe I'm just not up on your definition of a scam artist. Folks have been known to lose things in translation.

What is it with Larry Harley (Lonesome Pine Knives)??? I ordered a battle bowie in April 2009 and haven't seen it yet! I've tried countless times through email to get my knife, or a refund, and no reply! I'm so disappointed and frustrated I don't know what to do. I live in Australia so he's got me at a very vulnerable position!
Last email I did receive after constant hounding said that the handle was going on and it will be sent soon. Total crap if you ask me!

The frustration is probably the worst aspect of this situation. I'd like to be able to put my case before a magistrate. At least some folks in the knife community will read this and be warned.
Wonder how many others have been ripped off and aren't aware of this spot on the internet? I'm counting three of us on this thread owed knives by Mr. Harley. Thats alot of money.

I'm having to call bullshit on this. I know Larry, Larry is a stand up guy. Trying to make him out as some kind of scammer is total bullshit. If you want to say he is a horrible accountant or something along those lines go for it but he is nothing close to a scammer. What most people in the knife world know that evidently you guys do not is when you deal with these old characters like Larry you send money and wait till they get around to making it or in this case, remaking it.
As far as the rest of it, if you don't like whats available may I suggest you take a knife making class and buy a grinder. Whats that old saying? "If you want something done right, do it yourself!"

Plenty of QUALITY makers out there not charging until the final product has been made. If a guy can't afford the steel he is going to use to make the knife, then I guess he should have kept his day job.
If the job was not done right the first time, THAT order should take priority over everything else.

That said, my eyes are wide open here and I'm seeing a good man fallen down. No valid explanation, no feedback, no accountability.
I'm standing clear, not my business. But if you are close enough to him to recount his failings, then why don't you reach out and ask him why. I'm serious.

I'm going to ask him about it when I can. What I don't like is seeing him compared to some of the scum bags that have came here to the forum with the single purpose of ripping people off.

Bubbanumber1, sometimes it's just a matter of whose ox is gored. But in this case, I think you're being unfair to scumbags. Many of them never came here looking to screw anybody. They set up in business, did good, but somehow lost focus. Just like Larry Harley. Once you can't keep up with the business, you have to know to back off and not drag the customers down with you.

Thats bullshiit, That is poor business at best and many of the "Old timers" in the knife making business deliver knives, stay in contact with their customers, and do not take money on orders they know they willl not deliver on in years, if ever.
Maybe scam is the wrong word, how about calling him a guy who has the property of others with a purpose to deprive them thereof. That fits better, the definition of theft....................................
The intent is not in question....Everyone knows Larry can make a quality knife, and is a man of good intent....
It is the results that put him in the same boat as the scumbags....many people have said over the years that we are a results oriented society....ie do a good job and get paid, do a bad job, and get stuffed.
When a customer has a) either foolishly prepaid for a knife, or b)waits for a very long time for a repair/redo from a knifemaker without communication....THE MAKER IS ON THE HOOK TO THAT CUSTOMER....point blank, no other discussion necessary.
If I see Larry at Blade in 2011, I'll be sure to discuss this with him....pretty sure he likes me.

Apparently your definition of "A stand up guy" and mine differ. Anybody with a lick of sense can see that several of us in this thread have been screwed, and though Mr. Harley has responded to this thread, he made no reference to making things right.
As to waiting: IT's BEEN YEARS, GET IT?

Larry has not "SCREWED" anyone. I'm sure he will take care of this when he can as he is not some fly by night scam operation as you guys are making him out to be. Its a given your unhappy with the way things have worked out so far but its not like Larry has done a runner. He is still there making knives, not bankrupt advising everyone to contact his lawyer.
PS, Your not the first on Bladeforums to suggest I have very large balls :thumbup:.
