Las Vegas are knife makers

Sorry about that. I got my directions wrong east of boulder highway not 95 behind american shooters.

I am not familiar with that area at all..I know where that is but never been down there. I drive by American Shooters alot (sometimes I use the range) but what's behind it I have no idea...

I myself am basically at the east/south east end of Warm Springs Road..Up towards the "B" on the hill

don't blame ya one bit bud , you could always bring your bow to my place and do some after dark target shooting.

heck , gives me more time to finish some knives :)

5 done this past weekend and got 3 more with the handles curing in epoxy that should be done by mid week....

I don't think it was a lack of intrest. I think it was more likely that people had work issues and such. When there is something on the weekends I want to do I have to take two days of vacation to do anything over the weekend because of our contract. I just don't have anymore vacation to spare.

I was waiting till today to ask for directions, and a map.
I won't wait until the week of the meeting for info.

Tim,

Do you think we can try this again next weekend?

Maybe everyone should RSVP, eh?

By my count there are at least 12 of us in southern Nevada (one in Pahrump and the rest in LV). I think it would be nice if even half of us could make it.

Did I miss anyone?

What say ya'll?

I signed up for some overtime that I might be able to get out of. Let me know what time and what day and I'll see if I'm available or can't make my self available.

Well no sooner than I signed the lease and got the utilities turned on I got a phone call from the army corps of engineering about a dam job in oregon. Well we will see what they have to offer but it would have to be a good offer to make me walk away now. Anyway guys, here's the new shop before I go down to Texas and get my equipment out of storage.

It even comes with a swamp cooler.

Here is a small one that I have been hand filing into a new blade. I got the bug again and couldn't wait on the shop so I am doing this one the old fashioned way until I get my equipment here.

That's it for now. It will probably be november before I have enough time off to travel down to Lubbock and get my shop out of storage so I'll be finishing this one entirely by hand. I'm not sure how I'm going to heat treat it though.

WOW, Jimmy.....that is a great place! Big score for you.

That knife is awesome too....what kind of steel is it?

Brad

Great, count me in. Did you do that by hand with files? I'm not sure how you would like to heat treat the blade.....but what about a torch? You are welcome to use my coal forge if you like. I do have the stuff to fire it up and some ATF also.....maybe not the best....but it'll work.

Brad

I was thinking of trying a water quench. We have lots of brine at the plant and using a torch is the only way until I move my stuff from Texas.

Hey Brad,

The heat treating fairy dropped this off today.

Unfortunatly it has a different plug to any of my 220v outlets in the shop. So I'm going to have to take off the back panel and replace the cord.

Next up is a set of salt pots.

I'll be in Lubbock the middle of November and get the rest out of storage and up here. Take care.
