Let's see your good old basic fixed blades, Bowie's, Stickers, etc.

Today's carry.

Jack, I really like the Medieval eating knife (looks S. American to me). What's the size of it?

Thanks Jeff, he makes several eating knives, and all his patterns are based on historical examples. Mine has a 4" blade, and is 7" overall. Despite what many people think, the main reason for carrying a knife in the past, was not to use as a tool or weapon, but for eating, and I guess it was the same with the gauchos

That's really nice  :)

Thanks, Jack. I remember asking the knife maker what kind of steel he used, and he just shrugged and said "leaf spring." Not an uncommon re-purposing in that part of the world, esp. with the old U.S.-made cars that were imported down there in large numbers back in the 60's. Regardless, it takes a nice edge and slices through meat like butter. ;)

Fantastic :D Stan Shaw used to get annoyed with collectors asking questions about steel. "What steel is it?" He'd say, "It's GOOD steel!" 😁👍

That's the coolest thing I've seen all week. Just beautiful.

Thanks. This has been a good reminder to keep it out and use it more regularly than I have lately.

On a related note, one of my pet peeves is people who have lame, serrated steak knives (and lame kitchen knives in general). I have some friends who may be offended if I bring my own knife to dinner, but hey, how else are they going to learn? 🤣
