Let's talk traditional, pocketable, fixed blade knives.

One of my favorite fixed-blade pocket carries:

I have a Blind Horse Knives bushbaby. This knife has been my pocket carry fixed blade this summer. The lenght of this knife is about maximum for pocket carry and the knife is surprisingly sturdy and heavy for it's size. I call it my heavy duty pocketknife. The original sheath is made of heavy leather and too large for the pocket, so I made a sheath of plastic tube.

Just some days ago I recycled a pair of really old and broken boots, I intend to use the leather for sheaths. First project will be a sheath with plastic liner inside for the Blind Horse.

A GEC #15 added for size comparison-- these are small knives, the BHK especially so:

Nice knives P. I love that Green River knife. It looks to be about 3" long compared to the 15. May I ask what the handle thickness is?

Regards,

Mark

Thanks! The handle is about 5/8" at its widest, the end (a lovely taper to that point)-- perfect, to my eyes and hand. I've seen others he's done with thicker handles and/or less taper, depending on the material used and/or customer preference.

I love the african blackwood he recommended for this one-- it fires up with all kinds of figure in the right light.

Thank you P. Wow, those pic's you posted show how the nice the wood grain and color are.

5/8" is a standard 2 blade Barlow thickness....perfect.

Sorry if I resurrected a dead thread, just wanted to show you this slightly modified Roselli Grannys tooth. I think it is a working pocket fixed blade par excellence, despite it's humble looks.

I've been carrying my gec h20 in my right back pocket the past week held upright against my wallet. I can extract and insert it without needing work the sheath. I really like this current system.

Been loving edcing a pocket fixed blade so much I bought a childress neck knife. Should be here on Saturday, I'm pumped.

I own two, one is perfect for jeans and the other is smaller and slimmer making it right at home in khakis or dress pants.

Nice tooth! How big around is the handle?

Small, you get the idea. I did not find my measuring tape... I use a nr 9 glove. I can just get a comfortable 4-finger grip.

The google picture storing site gives the strangest addresses. Hope this works.

I don't see the image. I went to edit mode on your original post and I'm seeing something similar to what another member posted a few days ago. I think google+ might be causing your problem, but I'm no expert on this subject. I know Photobucket works, FWIW.

How's this one?
