Lion Steel Dom

Man I cant wait for mine to arrive. It gets here wednesday. As beaultiful as these rams horn are I went w carbon fiber to stick to the Trad knife/modern materials theme. The shufflers I reserved are in ebony and CF but this damn thread has me thinking rams horn might need to get ordered too

Alright, I finally got some pics. I had a difficult time trying to capture the depth and myriad of colors in this horn. There are blues, grays, yellows, browns, blacks, and others, it really is a terrific looking piece of horn, on both sides.

The knife itself is excellent. It has the best walk and talk out of the bunch. A nice firm pull, a crisp half stop, and an authoritative and audibly pleasing snap. Though the Shuffler is slightly better than the Roundhead, they both sport somewhat bland actions in comparison to the Dom. Lion Steel got it right with this one.

Blade is nice and sharp out of the box. I am sure it could be tuned up some but it is pretty decent for a factory edge. Blade is centered, no play whatsoever, and the swedge is spectacular.

This is a great knife and a fantastic testament of what Lion Steel is capable of and Mike's thoughtful skill in conveying this collaboration. I had hoped to do a more comprehensive review and I still might in the not so distant future but at this point I am a bit stretched for time.

Enough yapping from me. On to the pics!

Man, kind of wish I had gone with the horn now. My ebony example is superb, but that horn can about pass for crosscut mammoth ivory.

Reminds me of tree rings, great looking knives!

I picked up one in ebony as well and am equally as pleased with it. The knifes simple lines go so well with the uniformity of ebony.

I think Collector knives should be commended for this. Looks to be they have done a good job sourcing and so forth. These are all looking great!

We just get in a big box and send out little boxes. There were more "standard" looking rams horn this round than in the past; but I think those that get posted are the more unique deliveries. But, LionSTEEL has done an outstanding job with the stag and ram from the beginning.

I received my ram's horn yesterday, and I am very pleased with it. This is really a great little "dressy" utility blade, perhaps the perfect office knife.

withheld from the reserve. figured i had/have enough sheepfoot main blades. but it's pretty hard to hold to that seeing these photos.

My micarta just showed up today. It's unbelievably light. Maybe I'm just used to my GEC's that a bit overweight, but I'm very pleased overall. Couldn't be happier with both the buying process or the knife. The size is perfect, the pull is about a 6. It's just a great knife especially for the price!

Maybe I should have gone with Ram's horn but I think micarta will make for a really good user. What's the point of having a M390 blade that doesn't get used? Haha. I'll try to get some pictures up today.

Weird question, does anyone else's backspring have a gap between it and the liner? Also, does the stop pin(I'm pretty sure that's what it is) show the recessed part or is it uniform? It kind of looks like mine wasn't pressed down enough and that's what's creating the gap between the back spring and the liner.

Here's a crappy iPhone picture of what I'm talking about. My phone doesn't focus very well on stuff that's close but I think you can see what I mean. The pin doesn't bother me much, but I don't really like the idea of a gap between the backspring.

By design, the tiny washers on either side of the blade do force a tiny gap between the blade and liner to minimize resistance.

So is that what you think it is? I tried to take a better picture of the pin gap above. This is the first time I had a gap in a backspring, though so I just wanted to check if it's normal with these or not.

It's hard as heck to get a good picture of it, but the stop pin is flat on the right side, but on the left it's showing the notch on the top of it. It looks like the same amount that's showing is causing the gap. Sorry for the questions I just noticed it a few minutes ago and that caught my eye.

Well, there is a little light on every one they have produced for those that look close enough.

But on yours you can take the bolsters off and see if that pin sets right. The pin is just set in between the liners; so it will be obvious - and a quick press will probably correct it.

Took delivery of my Dom today. Love it. Everything on it is perfect. The blade was also shaving sharp choil to point. Im happy. I have a thing for carbon fiber and titanium. No need for pictures since CF/TI isnt really unique
