Just got my MiM4, and it's awesome.
The blade is centered. The action is smooth. The lock is perfectly adjusted. The blade play is zero. The fit and finish is excellent.
The blade grind was a tad coarse, but nothing to worry about. The edge grind was coarse and the sharpness was ordinary -- less than I usually get from Spyderco.
On one side of the edge, the angle was a little more than 15 degrees. On the other side, it was quite a bit less than 15 degrees. I couldn't tell exactly because the edge grind was too coarse to measure with my laser edge protractor.
The tip was rounded, although not really noticeable with the naked eye. The factory sharpening didn't go to the full point, but it was typical of factory knives, even good ones.
The steel fitting for the Ti lock tang does not prevent the tang from overextending, but that's not something I've ever worried about. I mention it only because someone said the steel fitting acts as a tang stop on their knife.
I sharpened it up on my Wicked Edge sharpener. Spyderco used a very hard M4. Reprofiling took much longer than it did with my Benchmade AFCK, which had a thicker edge angle.
The steel took a good edge up to the 1600-grit ceramic stone. I didn't try to strop it yet. But it's very sharp. And the tip came out perfect. Even under a 10x loupe, the point shows no rounding. This is a great tool. After sharpening, the edge was 14 degrees on one side and 16 on the other. The Wicked Edge is a little tricky to use with a full flat grind blade -- even with the second-generation model I have -- but it's still the best system I've found.
I haven't had a chance to use the steel yet, but from the way it responded to the sharpening, I get the impression that this is good stuff. FFG M4 with a good heat treat. It doesn't get much better than that.
