make your choice ! survival folder...

I prefer fixed blade to folder by far, especially if faces with a 'survival' situation.

But if I had to have a folder, it would probably be a Spyderco Pac Salt. My buddy has one and its a REAL 'user' knife - and having something that won't rust/corrode is HUGE. I mean come on, it doesn't matter how nice the knife is if its prone to rust or corrosion.

Alright!!! One more for the Pacific Salt. Exactly what I thought/said earlier. Considering the situation is unknown, you don't want a tool steel blade in a salty environment.

Personally I have always liked the CRKT M16, or M16 EDC. It is easy to open quickly and is fairly strong, but I suppose in a real survival situation I would want a thicker knife

i can't believe nobody's mentioned the Extrema Ratio RAO. You could use that thing as a chopper if you had to. The thing is a tank.

Queen Mountain Man. I learned of this knife on this site, and its a winner.

Camillus 886. (think Camillus version of the Buck 110 with rosewood scales and NS bolsters if you aren't familiar with the model)

Hmmmm.....that does remind me, I would like to have my Case Folding Hunter with the 4" clip point blade and the 4" skinning blade. It's in my signature. Great knife for the money and they last forever.

For a survival folder, I've moved away from the concept of having a folder that tries to be a fixed blade. IMO a folder simply won't be a fixed blade, and it makes more sense to work within the limitations of a folder, so my choice is no longer a very strong folder but a folder with the most uses.

That means my choice is an SAK. Limiting this to what I actually own, it would be a Wenger Mountianeer. I keep that in the sheath pocket of my Busse Steelheart E, or maybe my Mountianeer comes with the Busse as an extra knife. :D Seriously though, the larger blade and saw are both useful.

I don't have a large Victorinox. I'd prefer one of the plain edged large Victorinox folders over a serrated Wegner like the one I have or the Victorinox one-handed Trekker.

For what I'd actually have, it would be my EDC which is an Emerson CQC-7B and a Victorinox Huntsman, so I guess for the purposes of this thread my realistic choice would be the Huntsman.

I like having the smaller 2nd blade on the Huntsman, and if one of the larger locking SAKs had one like that it would be great. :D

Spyderco Paramilitary. Easy choice, for me.

Fully agree, what a amazing blade:thumbup:

Well all this hype on the Buck 110 has once again gave me the knife buying fever, (thanks guys) So i just orderd one for 18.00. I think its a good buy.

Only one, eh?

How about this one.

Or maybe this one. I own a lot of trappers and other patterns with more than one blade. If I had a single blade knife it would be an Opinel.

After receiving my BM Mini-Skirmish in today, I'd have to choose it :D.

Titanium handles - no corrosion (or at least very minimal)

Frame lock - won't wear out or rust out as do springs on axis/arc locks, stronger than a typical liner lock

S30V Blade - Great wear and tear, easy to sharpen and maintain an edge, corrosion resistant, overall excellent steal

Open back design - get all the crud out of the knife easily with a quick puff of air.

Basically my "poor man's sebenza"
