Thank you very much for sharing some thoughts and information Ethan, I can tell you when I finally found out about Becker knives and started to learn more about them and then found out that Camillus went out of buisness I was not a happy person. But I went forth onto ebay and bought a BK2 and BK9. Any plans for new knives to add to the line or a folder?
thank you again for continuing to make Becker knives and coming online :)

Still want a Becker Brute, can you tell I am an old newbie.

I'm in the line for a necker, as are many others i'm sure..
so glad to have the lineup revived, the secondary market prices were insane!

Excellent news and a great mood lifter!!! From the responses in this thread it sounds like when production begins there ought to be a new slot for Mr. Becker in the manufacturers forums. Sure happy to think I will be getting another chance for more of these "most bang for the buck" treasures.

:thumbup::)

Wow, reasonably-priced Becker Neckers, made in the USA, maybe made by Ka-Bar...

Vital question: will the Necker still have the bottle-opener in the grip? Genius!

Ethan glad your back, and honestly now i don't have to kick myself for not buying a necker when i had the chance. Can not wait to see your knives back on the shelf, because people were truly charging an arm and a leg for your stuff.

take care

aj

Hey Macsturm...

Thanks for buying Becker...Yes, of course I have plans for new stuff, and yes I have a plan for a folder...the blade shape is pretty certain but sometime during the 2200 miles I put on the truck last week I hade a real brainstorm for the handle body which
brother Darrel probably talked me out of... but he may have had a better idea...sooo
we'll see.....

The problem is deciding which of the new designs will get you guys drooling and which will cause excessive boredom.....

All Best...

Post rough drawings and take a poll, if we like something you'll know it and if not we'll suggest ways to make it better. Use us as a sounding board. I remember something about a longer bladed necker that got my intrest and also that collaberation with Doug Ritter that was cool. There was also a rumor of a camp kitchen knife which would be a natural from the man who brought us the Joy of Cooking.

Good to see this stuff will be back, when I sold knives, people would handle them and say 'how much again?' They were not sure they had heard right the first time. Still kicking myself for not holding onto a #9.

Oh I don’t know, people here are pretty tight lipped with their opinions :D

I have two Beckers, BK10 & 11. I don't know what I want next but I will be getting at least one. Something between the two would work. One of the many reasons I like Beckers is he keeps the spine at a good thickness. I have no need for a 1/4" or 5/16 " thick knife.

Ethan, glad to see your stayin' in the game, I lookin' forward to the upcomin' incarnations, the folder really has me curious.:D:thumbup:

My 21st century Nessmuk set would be a Spyderco ,Becker (some even had a vaguely butcher knife/Nessmuk tip) and H&B axe.

I am really looking forward to seeing what Ethan has planned for the 5160?

Now my guess is if He is using a oil cooled steel like 5160 over easier to deal with air cooled steels there must be something quite specific about it that makes it suitable for the knife. 5160 is like 1055 with some cromium that helps harden it past what 1055 does.
The small amount of cromium .051 (I think?) does not make it stainproof but it does seem to help it take a better polish.

Satin polish Necker or satin scalping knife.
?

EthanBecker,

Good to see your posts here on the Forum.

After reading, I have high hopes to see some of your product line back in production.

You have a lot of fans here.

Wishing you the best for you and your business.

i also thought of 5160 when i saw this thread. fact is if ethan becker says 1095 is the right steel for the design, then it is. how the hell am i supposed to say 5160 in the face of that?

that said, whatever steel is included in the design...
BRUTE BRUTE BRUTE!!!!

i've been in anguish over not gettin one when i had the chance.

Mr. Becker, the BK-1 got me into large knives. You are responsible for my drawer full of him imps and battle mistresses. they should pay you royalties.

EthanBeckerWan we need you! So great to hear your plans and proposals. Always remember we will give you our best and aid you in anyway we can, if only in praise and and admiration. As Cyblade said use us to test/pretest your ideas or see what knifenuts want! The Phoenix has arisen!

Welcome back Ethan, and congrats.
We are looking forward to having your work out there again, and equally looking forward to getting our hands on your new designs.
The 9 and 7 were always favorites in these parts, with the 10 not far behind. But, we will support you in whatever you decide to put out.
Thanks for coming back.

So glad to hear there will be more from Ethan, even happier to hear the USA connection :D

Good luck bro, my wallet is waiting ;)

I too have really been wanting to get my hands on a Brute. I'll definitely snag a BK9 if they don't reincarnate though!

Mr. Becker - your designs looked so great, and the reviews were so good... and the blades were impossible to find once I got in the market for one! I can't wait to get my hands on a Necker and one of your Choppers!

Will you have Micarta grip options on the new blades, or at least available aftermarket micarta slabs for them? I really hope so! GREAT news that you're (almost) back!
