Mick Strider has some explaining to do.

Sorry about typing Force Recon, I knew he was a SEAL. Please forgive me ole great one.

As for me screwing up the legal arguments, why cause you said so Your Honor?

nah, I know what I know because I have been part of alot of Plea agreements, one of which involved a Nol-Pros because the deal was jail or the Military. That used to happen often............

I am no Lawyer, glad you are and have straightened me out!!! Thanks

Yeah and you said he had 93 kills- talking about Hathcock or Marcinko?

I provided the legal citations to everything that I said and you ignored them, just say that you have been involved in plea bargains. You're not a lawyer so you were not the judge, prosecutor, law clerk, or defense attorney. The only other people involved would be the defendant. Are you a con or just a poser?
If you think my legal arguments are wrong go ahead and cite me statutes and cases, I already did that and you have ignored them.

I think that this likely will end without the sought after information coming out, though some of it probably will.

No keith this will never end!!! This will be a 900 page thread with 11 million posts!!!:D

And again, I don't support Mick Strider, quite frankly after his "badman" thread I was so angry that I almost hated the guy. but I cannot hate3 someone just because I hated what he/she wrote. So please, no more E-mails calling me names because you think I am blindly supporting the guy.

Once and for all; I do not know Mick, never met Mick, never shared an E-mail with Mick and Mick did not come to my Aid when I needed some support and aid a while back. My unhappiness is strictly because I think it's wrong what is happening here, and believe that redundant was met long ago. This is the same stuff that has kicked around for years and Mick has stood his ground, he will now I am sure. furthermore, those that claim this is new news should have enough news to now call this old news. Just do a poll and make this a sticky with the poll results on top. That should be enough to establish beyond reasonable doubt that the majority here on BFC think he is a Poser.

That's my displeasure with this thread so please No more E-mails degrading me and calling me names. I am a true American hero and deserve better!!!:D :D :p (should be a laughing very hard emoticon)

I guess that honesty is NOT the best policy.

Well, in that regard honesty sure came back to bite him in the ass didn't it? Can anyone blame the man for a turn around attitude wise once he got screwed by the feds the way he did? I mean he stole the car. Don't get me wrong. But the gun wasn't used to get it or even shown in public. It remained concealed the entire time and was not even any part of the whole thing. The feds just used the comment that he always had one to nail him with another count. From a psychological stand point I think this could explain any white lies that came up after that as a self defense of sorts at least in his own mind after having the truth used against him like that.

Now I am a Poser? Stop already will ya? I have never been a Defendant in anything and have given far more than most to preserve public safety, far more.................

Good morning. I would like to start by reiterating the previous:

Mick Strider, please answer the following questions:

  • Is it true that you enlisted in the US Army in November of 1985 (11-1985)? If not, when did you enlist?
  • Is it true that you were awarded your MOS designator of 11B1 in March of 1986 (03-1986)? If not, when were you awarded your MOS of 11B1
  • Is it true that you graduate Basic Airborne School in April of 1986 (04-1986)? If not, when did you graduate Basic Airborne School?
  • Is it true that you attended the Ranger Indoctrination Program in May of 1986 (05-1986)? If not, when did you complete the Ranger Indoctrination Program?
  • Is it true that you were assigned to the 2/75 Ranger Regiment in May of 1986 (05-1986)? If not, when were you assigned to the 2/75 Ranger Regiment?
  • Is it true that you were removed from the 2/75 Ranger Regiment and assigned to the 47th Infantry in August of 2006 (08-2006)? If not,
    A) When were you removed from the 2/75 Ranger Regiment?
B)What unit were you assigned to following this?

[*]Is it true that you were discharged from the US Army in December 1986 (12-1986)?

I am not making any statements based off these questions at this time. I will refrain from drawing conclusions off these statements until I have an answer, one way or another. If Mick Strider is not willing to answer these here, I cordially request that someone post them over on BadlandsForums.com or The Usual Suspects and copy his response.

I'm further adding these questions on today:
  • Mick Strider, what was the specific reason for your removal from the Ranger Regiment?
  • Mick Strider, what was the specific reason for your losing all rank and being barred from reenlistment after you left the Ranger Regiment?
Now, to answer some of the items that have been brought up.

Mr Borebrush - first, let me thank you for your service to the country.

borebrush said:
Spark... just wondering, whats your record of service? What have you done to insure a safer America in the face of Islam. Is this it? You know what, Mick has no further obligations to you, the competition or more importantly the consumer, other than to keep making good product. If you don't like Strider Knives, don't buy them. That's how a free market works.
With regards to my service, please see various posts I've made throughout this thread detailing my unit names, platoons, dates, and etc. I make no bones, I was no operator, just a lowly Combat Engineer, Airborne. That said, I was in 91-94 when Mick was claiming he was going to be sentenced to 1 years service in Somalia for his carjacking, so by all means tell me:

As a current military member, what is your opinion of someone who lies about being sentenced to Somalia for a carjacking felony?

When, in your opinion, is it ok to lie about your military record?

borebrush said:
I have had the honor of meeting them years ago while they were sharing shop space with SOE, and I envy the next time I get to see them.
You know, this is the first time I heard that they shared shop space with SOE gear. I just thought they were buddies. Let me ask you a question: Is this the same SOE gear guys that were put in prison for 4 years for having stolen firearms, motorcycles, and parachutes from the nearby Marine Corps base? I don't remember the details of that case specifically, but it rings a bell, so I might be incorrect.

borebrush said:
I'm only here to offer some perspective and clarity on this discussion. I see a lot of hyperbolic accusations with little effort to actually go to the source for the answer. I'm not here to make friends, I have plenty of those.
By all means, do so, because your entire post is hyperbole and vitriol, and precious little hard information. Can you answer any of the questions listed above?

Finally, I don't hold it against anyone that they have been suckered by someone not telling the truth. I will be the first one to say that Mick Strider is a pretty nice guy in person, when he's not telling customers to lick his sack and all. That said, the Elite Tier 1 and Tier 2 guys have been fooled more than once in the past. Just look at the guy busted as a phoney SEAL who was running the museum.

Now I am a Poser? Stop already will ya? I have never been a Defendant in anything and have given far more than most to preserve public safety, far more.................

I see that you are still not addressing the legal issues, come on you've been involved and seen tons of pleas bargains, so tell us how so.

time to put a end to this thread-
all this hot air is starting to effect the weather,im looking at 2 feet of snow or more by tomorrow night -thanx guys you really know how to screw up a guys week with all this hot air-

also keep in mind all the 'SMUGG" you are creating,if it meets the "SMUGG" over south park and hollywood we are looking at a global problem worldwide-

When he took the car from the dealer guy in the car with him that dealer rep never even saw Mick's gun. What happened was Mick, being a bit too honest told the FBI when they asked him if he had a gun, told them he did because he always did.
STR

That is interesting since the charge says that a firearm was DISCHARGED during the carjacking.

Why are people still see this as a witchhunt? Witches do not exist, so you have to create them first in order to hunt them. Liars and fellons DO exists and we should all do our best to keep them from dupeing others (or worse).

As to Spark not being nice....You guys are kidding, right? This is an educational message board for the exchange of information. Precisely that is what Spark has done he has very clearly, without any personal attacks listed collected and presented facts, that IS being nice. It is hardly his fault that the truth hurts. Besides, have you read Mr. Striders last posts here? I think he is the last person that could demand being treated nicely. Sometimes it DOES matter who started it.

Mr. Strider would the the last person I would ask anything and that is hardly out of fear, but because it seems that anything that you will be hearing directly from him should be viewed as a lie until proven otherwise, not the other way round. They say that a man's reputation is woven from a fine thread but the result is stronger than steel. Well, the threads that Mr. Strider has been weaving seem to be those of a perpetual liar - lies which Spark has made an effort to collect here.

Will there be repercussions from this thread?.....I think so. Sometimes, things take a long time, but give it another 5-10 years and I think it likely that Strider will be selling very few knives. Personally, I wouldn't invest in Strider stock.

Reading this thread I suddenly understand why victims of fraud are often too embarrassed to report it. It seems, admitting that they have been had is quite difficult for some, even when they stare in the face of hard evidence.

Is there anyone else, who wonders whether Mick Strider may have a medical condition, because his story reminds me stongly of John Nash's. This all has a ring of schizophrenia to me.

"Can anyone blame the man?" I think all of society takes a very dim view of anyone who commits a crime, then gets caught carrying a concealed weapon. No matter if it was used in the crime or not.

The part about not sending any more emails calling you names was meant for someone else I hope. I have never sent you any.

Digital, you are way off base here. Ira is a former LEO and knows his stuff.

Well he may be a LEO but that does not mean one is a legal expert or lawyer. The point of the discussion being that he says it is plausible for a federal judge to sentence a felon to a year in the military in Somalia in lieu of prison time. Boats and myself and pointed out, with proper legal authority and citation how this is nearly impossible. Ira does not answer that, just says that he is involved and has seen it but does not answer that by law and USA policy it can't be done. And what perplexes me is how and/or why a LEO would be involved in a plea bargain (which is not a nol pos or dismissal in my jurisdiction and in the fed system). The plea bargain is a contract between the prosecutor and the defendant whereby the pros agrees to recommend a sentence if the def agrees to plea guilty. They enter into that contract before the hearing. The judge may agree, modify, or disregard, but contract law applies and the pros can't change his mind at the hearing- there is a ton of caselaw on this and the def would be entitled to either specific performance of the plea agreement or a trial. At the point at which trial is nearing a LEO is nothing but a witness and has no say in what the pros does and would not be sitting around discussing, deciding, or participating in the plea discussions. So he is sitting her saying well he has seen all this stuff which happens to be in direct contradiction of the Federal caselaw and my jurisdictions caselaw on this.

"Can anyone blame the man?" I think all of society takes a very dim view of anyone who commits a crime, then gets caught carrying a concealed weapon. No matter if it was used in the crime or not.

I mean for telling some white lies. There is no excuse for the criminal act. Last time I checked lies were not enough to be something that could bring on prison unless done on the witness stand.

Hob. I did not see anything saying a firearm discharged during the carjacking. I will try to read that again if I can find it.

EDIT: Ok Hob. I don't see that. It says 'use and carrying of a firearm during a violent crime' I don't see anywhere that it says the weapon discharged.

Thanks

Oh good, we can stop talking about Mick!!!!

A contract that binds the Judge also? What Judge is bound by a Contract between a Defendant and a Pros? The Defendant knows damn well the Judge is not bound by any plea agreement.

And while it's not done in 2007, there have been plea agreements in the past where it's been service or jail.

As to where I am when plea negoiations take place. If it was my case I knew what would be offered, what charge would be substituted, what the chances would be based on the Judge sitting, and what the victim (if not the Government) felt.

The Law is the Law is the law, plea deals are plea deals are plea deals and contrary to what you experts have to say you cannot and will not sway me from what I know based on being there.........alot

But you can call me a Liar and a poser, your'e good at that...............

Ira, please settle down. I am not calling you a liar or a poser, so please, be calm.

The "join the army or go to jail" sentences ended around the same time as the draft. The All Volunteer Army does not want people who don't want to be there.

Mick got a raw deal on the "violence" part. Like many of us he always carried a gun. When he took the car from the dealer guy in the car with him that dealer rep never even saw Mick's gun. What happened was Mick, being a bit too honest told the FBI when they asked him if he had a gun, told them he did because he always did. They decided then and there that it was an armed car jacking even though he never even showed the gun to the salesman in the car with him. All he did was switch sides with the guy and when the salesman got out he hit the auto locks, slid across the center console and took off.
...

On the real issue here. I again think you can't get resolution here. Take it to Mick in person and you'll be more likely to get answers if you want them that bad I guess.

STR
That's what Mick wrote yes. Does that sound at all plausible? He knew he was getting arrested for stealing a car, and he just tells the FBI he had a gun? This is our hard-rolling operator?

And come on, doing black ops in California? The governement couldn't pop for a car rental so they task Mick with stealing a car? And rather than just hotwire a car in a mall parking lot like any normal car thief, he goes to a dealership and face-to-face steals a car? OPSEC anyone?

Go over to Badlands and see what happens to someone who tries to question Mick and get some direct answers. He doesn't answer there, and all his friends say no one has a right to question him.

Look at the facts Spark has presented. None of them have been contested. Until that happens, I see no reason to give Mr. Strider the benefit of anything.

"A firearm discharged"

Where does that appear in everything posted?

Next we will read Mick shot the car salesman. Lord knows I might applaud that (insert I am not serious emoticon) as long as no one of value was wounded in the process.

My understanding is that Mick was armed. As to why this ended up in US District court with the Feds doing the charging is confusing to me. Even with Interstate involvement it is usually the State that handles car Jacking.

Oh of course I am probably wrong but there has got to be more than just locking a salesman out of a car while armed with a concealed firearm unless they stuffed the salesman in the trunk and took him to another State.

can one of the legal experts explain this to me, I know nothing about the workings of law enforcement in California.......................

I was not talking about you kevin, and yes I have not gotten one of those past a recruiter since Napoleon was a cadet, but it did at one time happen often even after my State enacted their Truth

in sentencing Law and the Feds their "guidlines"

I now know why I hate Mondays off!!!!!

Go back and read what I wrote, I said a contract between Pros and Def, not judge and the judge can disregard. Knowing what is being done doesn't mean you are deciding. We are discussing a specific case here, the sentencing guidelines had been in place for 5 or 6 years and Mick explanations just does not hold water.

So now you're saying a dismissed case is the same as a plea bargain?

And I guess since I had to pass an exam to practice law and I have been there doing it means I'm full of it?

Look, I'm a pretty liberal guy. Most on here would say that I'm too liberal on a lot of issues. I'm all for giving a guy the chance to redeem his life...The Good Lord knows I've needed that myself.

But you have to know that having a license to carry a concealed weapon (I assume that he did have a license) brings a great deal of responsibility...And if you screw up while carrying a weapon, you better be ready for the conconsequences. And that's as it should be.
