I must have missed the answer to my simple question. WHY did he need the car?
Am I the only one that thinks this is clearly a funny "Walter Mitty" manner of talking about one's life?example: "I stole the car because I was told to secure a vehicle for (insert activity here). I did this because at the time I was involved with (insert organization here)"
.
From the thread "Losers!" in July 2005. Points of interest BOLDED.

Good night sweet prince.
Pete, I read your post here, and it just seems kinda weird to be asking such questions about a guys past like this.
Am I the only one that thinks this is clearly a funny "Walter Mitty" manner of talking about one's life?
It's clearly "over the top" writing, and it's also clearly meant to be seen as "over the top" writing. Thats part of the joke of writing within this style.
I also dont understand all the anger and the cuss words on this topic over what I think is just a funny way the guy has when he writes about his rather dull and uninteresting life in a style to make it more interesting and "dangerious".
I think that the car jacking is a major bone of contention .
Fair enough. How are these for motives:
I'm a veteran. This lie insults my service, and attempts to steal the valor of men like Gordon and Shugart to bolster the reputation of a convicted felon. How many of you have knives named after them, I think the model is the SnG? How do you think Gordon & Shugart would feel about a felon lying about going to be in that theatre, then making money off their deaths?
I'm a gun owner. A convicted felon talking about owning and using firearms is food for people like the Brady's.
I own this site. Mick Strider lied to me, and to the 80,000 members here, and to the industry as a whole.
How are those motives.
A "Walter Mitty" story implies a pun or satire, something in a joking fashion. In the highest sense of the words its very serious.
You see , I dont get this part at all....
If I learned that a guy who I worked with did jail time, I might ask "Why?" once or twice,
Hey Im human and a bit nosey too.
But after that, I dont think it's my business to go around demanding to know "the full story"
I mean, whats the point?
I just dont get how knowing why a young man got into trouble a while ago is important to so many today?
None of us can back up time, I cant go back in time even one second, let alone years and years, tus it all seems a bit pointless now, and kinda weird and a bit personal to be concerned with such things about another dude.
I just dont see the point....
I have read some of the posts printed here about the reason given, stuff about , needing to get a car for some dark ops work. But the moment I read stuff like that I just start to smile.
Dont you see thats a joke?
Am I the only one that thinks this is clearly a funny "Walter Mitty" manner of talking about one's life?
Also, I think we need final say from some authority concerning the "SOCCOM" "Spec Ops" referances. Is it acceptable for someone with his DD214 and background to refer to himself that way?
If you've read any of my posts, you know I'm a Strider supporter... but this post is just plain bonkers.Thats all up to the given situation and the context.
After the flood here I worked with the Fire dept clearing manholes of sandbags that were tossed down in them to stop back-flooding.
They opened up the first one,, it smelled very rank down there in the dark.
The one older fire guy pointed to the youngest and said, "Today son you are on Special Ops", down you go son."
So in a way the term "SOCCOM Spec Ops" can be talking about anything the writer wants it to be talking about, and the writer can use it in a sentence, a story , an article or a movie anyway they want and not have to inform anyone else as to the meanings..
.....Thus there is just a lot of "wiggle room" there.
So Mick was tasked to the "special operation" of raking the gig pit when he was at Lewis? hee, heeThats all up to the given situation and the context.
