Mick Strider has some explaining to do.

The chick has one of them pocketclip knives!.....where were them girls when I was single?

Allan, they, like her, were dating the younger, more attractive guys like the gentleman standing next to her...I have the same problem....I would like to date young Penthouse Pets, but seem to only attract old Outhouse Pets....lol

Heck, 20 years ago, I was breaking laws too. I'm pretty ashamed of some of the stuff I did back then,

Danbo, don't be ashamed. You were never a criminal.......owning and operating a few glory holes around town wasn't illegal until the late 90's. :D

And making them coin operated was just BRILLIANT!!!!!:D i know I elbowed in, but we certainly need a little levity in here:eek:

Mr Hinderer, is it good for this industry to tolerate someone who uses deception to blow up their credentials? If you found out someone wasn't really an ABS mastersmith, but was touted as such would you be offended?

Do you really want to support someone that says that he was going to be sent in the US Army as punishment for a felony? Is that the message you are really trying to send here? That it's ok to refer to military service as an alternative to jail time? That personally insults the hell out of me, just speaking as a veteran. I'm proud of my service. I'd think that other tactical knifemakers would view the Military as an honorable choice as well.

Because if that is the position you are taking, then you are welcome to it. I will not argue with you. I just find it very interesting that Mick Strider is given a pass, and not held accountable for his words and deeds.

It is in all of our best interests to expose fakes. Period.

Goodnight folks, I have dinner waiting.

Spark,
The position that I am taking is one that is for the overall good of this business that we call knives and knife collecting...I want to make knives and advance the art...I dont spend all my time finding dirt on the other makers....I spend my time learning and researching how to make a better knife...if you think that because of all the study you have done on Mick that I have somehow insulted you, then well ok...I am also proud to be a firefighter....

No actually we don't need any levity in this thread. There is nothing at all funny about this subject. It involves very serious allegations, and findings. I for one don't appreciate trying to trivialize what has gone on, how it affects Mr. Strider and his family, and what the future may hold. If you want levity, go to whine and cheese.

Lighten up, Pam. What's done is done and you being all serious isn't going to do a thing to change that. I'll use levity anywhere I please.

Absolutely WRONG!!
The picture was of Duane Dwyer. Got any more "facts"

Mr Hinderer, I'm running out the door for dinner, but I wanted to say this: you will never insult me by being honest. This was not spent digging up dirt just to trash Mick Strider. This was because Mick Strider makes claims that don't hold water, and nobody called him on it. If there was dirt to be found, in less than 4 days of open-source googling, I'm sorry but that isn't my fault.

The blame for his actions lies squarely on his shoulders, period. Nobody forced him to lie about Somalia as an alternative to prison. No one forced him to talk about Chris Osman, who sued him. No one forced him to carjack. No one forced him to go AWOL. No one forced him to post that he was a combat vet, or a secret operator. Those are all his doings, not mine. So please, don't blame me for being smart enough to recognize when someone is lying. I trust you would do the same if it was an issue you felt strongly over.

Have a good night folks.

What i learned reading the link sent to me to read by SPARK...

What was it 40 , no 50 some pages of text long?
ANYway, the one link was to yet another forum topic where there was this guy who just got a $300 Strider knife that had flaws.
There were some nice photos posted on the forum that clearly showed us that yes, there were some rather large problems for this $300 knife to have.

They were fixable, so I too was hopfull that the guy could get his $300 new knife fixed or replaced.

The forum topic turns into the same topic as we got here very fast ,
The topic also turns to the question of "Quality Control" now at Strider Knives.
There were a few commnets made, not only by the guy with the knife problems, but also by a few others, that the Quality Control was lacking lately.

Then about page 3, or 5?. this Strider himself shows up to defend himself and to deal with the guy who had the flawed knife.

Strider now says that there is no chance that the guy with the flawed knife had gotten this blade from his company.
Strider says that his company has GREAT quality control, and that because his company didnt sell this knife, it must have come from someone else who perhaps received it free due to it not being good enough to sell.

My thinking was as I read this that if the knife was not sold by Strider, then there is no reason at all for Strider to do anything about it.
The correct person to return the knife to is the seller on EBAY who took the guy's $300.

But then Strider himself says he wanted to fix things for the guy, so he was going to set things right with a new knife.

To me that sounded like a classy thing to offer.

Then the Strider guy ends a post by addressing some of the talk about his lack of quality control with the phrase that went something like "Lick my sack"

A truly taistless / classless thing to post.
more than enough to have me never want one of his knives.

However later on that topic another poster informed us that the "Lick my sack" comment was still something that fits into the nature of the Strider image.....

so be it.....not my cup of tea this Strider, not what i think a grown man should address others like, but if thats his image then it's a free country.

I just felt he wreaked what otherwise was a great start to fix the problem with that one flawed knife.

Hey, Copfish. You subscribe to Martha Stewart's Living too? ;) :)

My take on this whole shebang? I wish it would just dry up and go away. I'm tired of reading this stuff. I REALLY don't care what Mick did 20 years ago. Heck, 20 years ago, I was breaking laws too. I'm pretty ashamed of some of the stuff I did back then, but I would like to think that forgiveness is instilled in ALL of our hearts. Besides, I really don't know what all this is supposed to accomplish anyway. In the end, people will either buy Strider knives or they won't. Please, let this end.

AMEN!

With all due respect, I find your posts to be quite funny. "This is so serious..." Like you found your calling. Internet hall monitor.

This is a circus of the inane. Nothing more. A dog and Pony show so some people can get there kicks at the expense of someone else. It is a pathetic exercise in what not to do to another. It should be a lesson in how to not live your life This thread is an example of hate and the vultures who feed off it's ugliness.

It says more about the people doing it, than the target of there hate.

With all due respect.

I cannot believe you took anything Bohica2u posted as fact. His record is pretty much zero for anything. But thanks for doing the fact finding. It's rare here.

As for the nonsensical posting at a "respected website":

[SNIP]

EDITED - REASON - After further research, I found out I had quoted something that had NOT been sourced OR verified regarding pownetwork.org. Accordingly I am pulling the information because it was based on "supposition" and "conjecture" with ZERO proof. Additionally, the link to my apology for such is below.

Hah! That's rich! We're in America and you're preaching a sanctimoniuos derision of "inflated prices"? That is hilarious to me because there 'aint no such beast as an unjustifiably inflated price for anything. People pay whatever the market will bear. That is always a matter of free choice.
The concept of inflation is married to big business in America. We prefer to call it by it's more genteel term- profiteering. Look, most marketing in the past 150 years has been hype anyway. Besides, if anyone buys anything based soley on the reputation of the person behind the Brand Name itself they're fools. Now if you people would just develop a standard for judging the relative merits of products based on thier performance and durability, styling and warranty and NOT on the name of the maker or thier personal history, then we'd be going somewhere. I mean, what part of the physical entity of the end product carries the maker's checkered history? The stripes ? :D

Without the deception, from the name stamp on up, the knives never gain the cachet with the actual HS/LD users, which in turn attracted the legions of wannabes who mostly buy the knives to photograph them in their unused state, which in turn drove up the prices.

The suckers who don't know about the fraud are paying inflated prices, in good part, for a backstory with no merit.

Objectively, the knives are decently made from quality materials, but they are also pretty overpriced for what they are, especially given their known F&F issues.
