Interesting analogy. Actually, I see little difference between humans and hyenas, so none of this is unduly disturbing to me.:rolleyes:

Sorry, when I used the word relevance I was meaning anything that went towards providing answers to the original questions asked by Spark.

Anybody who buys a using knife based on the claims of the knife maker (who makes money on that sale) rather than the quality of the workmanship (and the suitability of the design to the job) is buying that knife for all the wrong reasons, and to complain later that you were misled is just misdirecting the blame for a poor choice onto someone else.

I don't understand why, but I also don't understand why he bashing Mick Strider so much. He was definitely going way too far.
When I made jokes like "Strientology" I was aiming for his blind followers, not for him. I had my reasons for that. I don't care if anyone likes these reasons or not. Hell, it's just the internet.

I'm still with Spark. I want these lies to end. And if it turns out that we're all wrong, I'm eager to listen and apologize. I mean it.
 
I think Boats saw the light when his identity and photo etc was exposed on badlands.
He had a message from Mr Carson that changed his viewpoint I believe.
A friend of mine that visits Badlands tells me this.
 
79 pages of sound and fury signifying nothing... IS this the end of Strider knives? Not by a long shot.. The Net is a very small community.. If anything this thread will sell Strider knives... SO WTF? What is the goal here?
Im just asking a question cause I dont see anything being accomplished.
I am a knifemaker, hell if what I did in my youth would preclude me from doing that I would be SOL... Why is it "sport" here to try to hurt a mans livelyhood? I mean nobody is talking about making exploding ashetrays for the CIA at age 12 anymore are they???

While I generally appreciate the introduction of Shakespeare into any discussion, I don't agree with much else. What has been accomplished? Speaking for myself, what has been accomplished is bringing to light a pattern of deception that I find both surprising and distasteful. From what i can see, this deception is not relegated to the distant past, but is ongoing. I didn't know much of this before this thread. I know it now. A maker's integrity is something that matters to me. It may not matter to some. It probably doesn't matter much to the legions of Strider faithful. But shining a light on it has been most worthwhile.

So what Bones rolled out of Boats Closet that he would all of a sudden go over to Badlands and ask forgiveness and ask that his "I am so sorry" message be communicated to USN?

After reading what he wrote here there has got to be something beyond his "identity" that made him change his tune.

It may be time for this thread to wind down.
Its all been said, as the heading says "The good, the bad, the ugly.
They have all been posted here.
The people that support Mick Strider and his product will always do that I guess, the ones that don't get by without a Strider knife.
At the end of the day, you have to be comfortable in yourself and how you conduct yourself in life, if you, me and Strider can look in the mirror and be happy well thats it I guess.
The whole "tactical" hardcore thing is a world in itself and would be a shrinks dream.
Time to move on lads. It has all been said and the people that have some intelligence here have made their minds up one way or another.
 
RogerP I can understand your point of view all day... And thanks for being civil... I too think this lame horse needs to be put down. I carry no water for anyone. Mick is my friend, and BF is where I got my start in knifemaking.
Can this just be DONE? I hope so.

I absolutely disagree here. The net has made has given more exposire to kifemakers and knives than any other media, well with the exception of the Home Shopping Network:D

But sorry for going off topic, I just don't see that this issue will be resolved here. When you have a thread that goes on as this one does, the valuable info gets lost in all the jibberish.

Spark should have posted all the facts in a locked sticky thread and then opened up another thread for discussion purposes. Now all the facts are cluttered between tons of pages of crap or people that were not even around back then but form opinions on stuff they do not now about IMO. (Oh I was around and remember this topic and MD's topics very well. )

The Lynn, Kevi, Mic triangle is like the bermuda triangle and you will get lost in it.
 
What I see here is a few individuals throwing words around like “lying” and “deception”.

Yet the very things that they say that are lies and deception they can’t disprove or prove for that matter.

So my question is how can you people say that? You don’t have proof they are lies. You don’t have proof they are deceptions.

I see things that have been proven to be truths in this thread by Spark. The funny thing is they had already been written by Mick Strider himself, way before this thread came up.

What you have left is a lot PERCEPTION and SPECULATION.

It’s really sad. I was going to stay out of this; I was not going to say anything. But today I’m feeling a little down, I’m 7200 miles from my family. There is a lot going on in this part of the world, mans inhumanity to man is thriving.

I see that it thrives here as well. Not in the same way, I mean no one in the thread is getting their head cut off or anything….But it’s pretty rotten for you people to lay out a mans life on a public forum and then pass judgment on perceptions and speculations. It’s just wrong no matter how you look at it. It’s low.

As far as I’m concerned (and I’m sure it won’t matter to the internet commandos) you have stooped lower than the so called lying and deception that you spout off about.

You have blanketed your so called “cause”.

Look at the biggest proponent of this so called “cause” …”Boats”… He jumped ship (no pun)…truth of the matter I would not take anything he says as truth. He has proven his integrity level is right up there with this entire thread. He can’t even stick to his guns. That just is one example of the caliber of persons jumping in and spouting the perception and speculation……I’m going to close with one word……..Karma.

Boats did. He linked to a post on Badlands precisely because he wanted to
1) apologize
2) stop this continuing parade.

He did so because Kit Carson sent a 2000+ word 2 part email that changed his mind about the importance of dragging a person's life through the mud on the internet. His posts on Badlands say that for those who bother to sign up and look.

Now, what part of a hardened divorce lawyer getting good advice from a Army Sergeant Major and dropping the subject is hard to understand?

I have had plenty of the media's trashing of our involvement in Iraq. The story isn't being told - power and lights working (when it's not blown up, and even then repaired on our nickel,) medical help (one picture of an orphaned girl who can only sleep when held by the medic who received her from the scene,) ad infinitum. It's been a long winded, one sided campaign to trash our involvement.

Same thing here. One thing shows up repeatedly - Somebody is Lying and owes Me a Retraction or Apology, because I'm so Important and Demand an Answer.

You are not. Stop the arrogant internet inquisition. You are no better than the media trashing our troops in Iraq - no balance, no openness.

Words have meaning, and many poor choices have only polarized the issue without any positive outcome. This negative intrusion into lives is affecting real people. It is not the internet for some. It is real.

Boats doesn't see it your way anymore. He changed his mind about it, for the better.
