Must have the hands of a surgeon! Gonna be one killer pair!free hand with a dremel is probably not the best way to go but when it’s the only way, it’s the only way, I just hope there are no cracks when putting all the pins in. I just need to decide if it will be a single blade or a two blade. It’s a mammoth ivory black jack to go with the ebony one. Can’t wait till it’s done.

I wish I had a little bit more of the hands of a surgeon, the shield looks kind of amateurish but I’m pretty happy with it so far. 8 grits of sand paper and a little polish I think it’ll look decent. The fluorescent lights are a little harsh on it too right now.Must have the hands of a surgeon! Gonna be one killer pair!

I figured out the main thing I didn’t like about the shield and was able to improve it. I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It’s interesting how much mammoth ivory changes when you hit it with some oil.

Classsssssssy Piece! Beautiful work!!!![]()
I hope so, after I finished it up I noticed thousands of micro cracks on the surface so I ended up covering the whole thing in thin superglue and re sanding and polishing, it probably wouldn’t have mattered but I didn’t want little chips starting later on.that is gonna wear nicely!
Thanks guys! I’m really happy with it and it’ll probably be the last one I do for myself for a little while, so I think it makes a good break point.

I have the natural micarta scales from one and a couple liners, maybe a two blade ettrick with a pen and coping blade at some point.so we've seen a whole bunch of these 86s chopped up, any plans for constructions of additional knives with the coping/secondary blades soon?
Oh, that sounds like it would be a great whittlin' knife!I have the natural micarta scales from one and a couple liners, maybe a two blade ettrick with a pen and coping blade at some point.
JTB_5 Joshua the Grizzly G0864 is a seriously nice unit for doing recover work and it won't cost you much more that a HF unit. The variable speed feature is a must imo. Bottom line, I highly recommend getting something with a variable speed feature.
