Modified Production Knives (traditional only)

free hand with a dremel is probably not the best way to go but when it’s the only way, it’s the only way, I just hope there are no cracks when putting all the pins in. I just need to decide if it will be a single blade or a two blade. It’s a mammoth ivory black jack to go with the ebony one. Can’t wait till it’s done.

I'm super impressed you even considered attempting to inlay a shield free-hand :) I know of makers who insist that is the only way they do their shields...but, having done them myself, it just seems like a very daunting task.

#92 Eureka I just finished up. Deleted the coping blade and dressed it in a vintage black canvas and pinned corset shield. She's a classy looker now!

So, I had a pretty tough week at work which culminated today with me getting coated in limestone from a dust collector malfunction (I work in a manufacturing plant). I looked like a snowman but without the cool hat. Even after a hot shower once I got home, I wasn't in the best of spirits. Then I received a PM from Jason ( Signalprick Signalprick ) to let me know the Eureka Jack mod he was doing for me was complete. After seeing the pictures of this magnificent knife, the smile hasn't left my face and I'm sure my blood pressure has finally returned to the normal range. Great job Jason! I can guarantee once this beauty returns to me next week it won't soon leave my pocket. I'm already looking through my collection to see if there's another hidden gem in there that just needs a few tweaks to turn good into great.

To anyone that's thinking about having a knife mod done, I say go for it. I'm pretty danged pleased that I did!

Here's one that's inspired by @The Fort 's love of black box jigged bone:

J jsdistin Really like those two light colour Giraffes:cool: All look fine, great improvement on the original finish, I'm sure ;)

Thank you sir, I always shoot for leaving things a little better than I found them, and think I hit the mark occasionally. I think yours is the next one that I’ll be doing. The rat tail bolsters should be no problem either.
Here‘s a few before pictures and an after that matches. The back springs on several of not all were warped slightly so sanding them down and some extra care in peining them back together tightened up some of the gaps with the liners. I think they’ll turn out pretty good.

Jsdistin, good to see some from you, those look great.
Thank you, it’s good to be far enough along with some to have something to post.
