Modified Production Knives (traditional only)

Looks good. Might do that to one of mine, but would probably go full sheepsfoot / wharncliffe on it.

While I didn't mind the initial blade, it's pretty remarkable how it improves the feel when using the wharncliffe blade. No longer pokey :)

Not the cleanest mod, but I clipped my Calf Pen Jack. The profile is a little funny, but I wanted to preserve the nail nick and not mess with putting in a new one!

The “funny” profile might be somewhat remedied by bringing the swedge all the way to the tip. I did a similar mod to my 13 whittler, couldn’t see any point to having two pen blades?

any one ever tried to bleach the bone? or get the color out of their dyed bone scales knife. either by accident or intentionally. just curious.

I have not, but have often wondered if it would work. I have a few I would like to lighten up. Let us know if you give it a try. My hesitation has always been a belief that bleach might be very corrosive to steel. Twenty minutes or so would probably not be a problem, but would that be long enough to have an effect on the bone? Not sure how long you could properly soak before damage starts to set in. Might try it on a beater knife.

ive heard of people getting solvents on their knife like rubbing alcohol and the coloring coming off but nothing substantial. of course there is the old put it in pocket wear method. was curious to see how a diamond jack would look with bleached bone

edit to add photo of blade closed
Canal Street Cutlery made a tall clip, lock back trapper and called it a "Pinch Lock"
That's what I was going for here; an easily pinch-able lock back. This one opens without effort.

All I did to this knife, A Queen model 41 Copperhead, it remove the copperhead so
I could grip the knife better. That has made it a much nicer knife for me to use.
