Modified Production Knives (traditional only)

I think you did a great job with the jigging!.
I don't care for it on the pin, but that could change aftr looking at it for awhile. The fact that it isn't something I have seen before may be why it doesn't appeal to me.

Thanks! Though the sides not show turned out worse. Yeah I think the next time I do something like that I'll spare the pins

I've never tried it, but would think you'd chisel on the long axis of the cut, starting shallow, going deeper, then up to shallow again as you exit the cut. The Dremel seems like a LOT less work!

yanked the first bail off in the hotel room during the rendezvous with just fingers.

the second however was much tougher.

glad the screw up was on the micarta, much more forgiving than the bone

I've never been a fan of the bulbous spear blade, but I am a big fan of the #56 pattern, so I grabbed a two-blade stag Bird Dog when they came out. I had this mod planned from the beginning, to turn the big spear into more of a drop point, and recut the swedge. It turned out pretty good. Sorry for the indoor pic, it's storming here, but the light I had shows off the mod pretty well. Now to begin the patina.

Nice improvement!

Really nice. :D Having the hole there is what made me not get one of them

there were some at the rendezvous that didnt have holes, but long pull clip 15s, ill buy em all day usually if the price is right. the ones in the store were at an offer i could not refuse. in fact after all the modification and alterations it makes it even more pocket friendly than my black micarta

Yep saw them too at my dealer, but they were sold out once I had money over for a knife :D

I decided to modify this ebony #85 today. I reshaped both blades on my belt sander to suit my needs, with a pointy clip main and a straight-edged secondary. Perfect 6 pulls and excellent snap and action on both clip and pen. On the clip master I took off some of the "peak" of the clip to make it more pocket and hand friendly, and also reduced the belly to a more gradual, less tanto profile. The pen I took down to a coping. Bought this one used, so it came "pre-patinated" and is ready for the pocket!

Ancient Lambsfoot mod.15, loosely inspired by the recent Ancient TC Barlows.

I've considered getting some ferric chloride to etch the blade, since it's stainless and won't patina in vinegar like 1095. Thoughts?

Did this one not come with a bail? The profile looks good, but I'm not seeing the "ancient" unless it is the way you finished the blade. I think it does need something to distinguish the finish--whether it is ferric chloride (which I have no idea about), or "distressing" it in some other way. Personally, I like the finish you put on the one you did for me.
