Mod'ing The CS Trail Hawk

Here is my contribution... Thanks goes out to brother Vec for the inspiration on the head grind. I would really like to have one of his, But this will do for now.

Mods: CS trail hawk, Stained haft with 2 coats of Ebony with 3 coats of "Thompsons" water seal. Ground the head a la "Vec's BUG head" with edge regrind, Filed the "eye" out for better fit. Etched and painted the head w/ industrial cast iron grey paint. Finished it off with a sword style 550 cord in grey. Made a DigiCam duct tape blade cover.

Please tell me what you all think.Thank you

Here is my new Trail Hawk. Just did a slight mod to it. Stripped and gave the head a vinegar patina, colored up the handle a bit. Not great, but I like it. Oh, and I made a milk jug and duct tape sheath :)

Loving the sheathes, guys! I've been worrying over learning how to make leather sheath but those will do the job.

Dodge, I like how you ground that head down, big improvement

outstanding... i joined this forums just to post to this.. this has forced me to stop looking at knives and persue tomahawks lol. what do you guys think is a good fist buy? cold steel? i have heard alot of good things about there hawks my brother has the Bad Axe and i think it was pretty good construction.. i also have one of their spartans and its pretty solid..

FTO dude- That's a smokin' hawk! It looks like you trued up the lines and gave the head a satin finish. The dark haft contrasts nicely with the steel. The sheath is well done and the entire package is awesome. Let's see more of your work.

My 15 year old son decided that he wanted to try his hand at modding a hawk and here's what he made. He watched me make and etch one earlier and that's all of the guidance he needed. All that's left to do is sharpen the edge.

Not bad for paper, scissors, spray paint, etching solution and some elbow grease!
