Mod'ing The CS Trail Hawk

Very nice!
I love how to took some metal away from the bottom of the head and made it curved more like the Pipe and Rifleman's Hawk

I actually wanted to do that to mine, and now that I see it, it may just have to happen

FB1981,
I really like that leather piece you have alot!! Did you do that yourself?? Do you do any other custom work?? I need you to pm me if you can. :D

will have a trawl through all my pics to find more examples of my work but here are a couple of a strap plate i made (yet again for my brother) for his airsoft mask.

Photobucket already has an option that gives you the code to post on forums
Just hover your mouse over the pic your want to post, and a drop down will appear with different links, you want to copy the link with the tags

Then post that directly to here and you're done!

FB1981. . .that is some AWESOME work. You should start a leatherwork thread with some of that work. . .it would be cool to see what all can be done.

the best piece of advive is to have a bucket of cold water next to you so you can keep the metal cool if your using any sort of grinder to do the metal removal be it a bengh grinder, belt sander or a hand help angle grinder or even a dremel. during the entire grinding process the head never got hotter than was bearable to touch & i used both a bench grinder & a bench belt sander. good luck with the grinding.

Alright after I've been working on my PipeHawk for about 2 1/2 weeks now... and STILL not finished!!!
And even got a Trailhawk in now , I've got an idea that I'm not to sure about?!! I don't think I've seen anybody on here do it.

What if when I take the screw out and sand down the shaft... put that plastic wood putty aroud the shaft where the head will sit around, slide the head back on while the putty is still kinda wet, clean it up a lil bit, and then let it dry?!! And then just sand down the excess.

It should give the shaft surface where the head will be a good snug area so the head can stay on tight while it works it's way up the more you use it, RIGHT?!! That stuff is sandable and stainable, I mean I know it's not all that strong, but the rest of the wood shaft should back it up to stay strong enough.

What do you guys' think???

Well, do you really need the putty?

All my heads have the screw removed and I'm not having any problems with the fit they already have
