Ha! Everyone knows you are a Mora superfan, not an ESEE super fan!

Ssssshhhhhh! Silence! Or you'll never see that kayak! ;)

Man, now that you mention it, I do sort of wish Mora had a fan group so I could add to my Super Signature.

I can see alot of misunderstanding going on here and that's understandable considering that most folks don't know all the in's and out's or all the players involved.

From where I sit, knowing what I know I can say that this really isn't a big deal nor a game changer in any way.

DPx was evolved as it's own seperate entity from the get go and this split was always in the cards. Jeff has been drilling into our heads from day one that DPx was NOT ESEE and vis versa.

As for the warranty, details were never hashed out on it and it's been discussed ad nauseum in private since before the public ever even knew the folder was in the works.

I think we can all agree that it's not reasonable to expect a "fixed blade" warranty on a folder but I have nothing but the utmost faith in Pelton that the warranty will be more than fair.

Everyone just needs to relax a little and realize that NOTHING has changed.

Why do you care? Are you on retainer as an ESEE or DPx consultant?
And thanks. That's the first time I've been called an ESEE superfan. Maybe Jeff will send me a free knife. :D

Hang on, hang on... I've been saving my Super Signature for a moment just like this one...

Damn, he made you break it out. WTF. Like swatting flies with a Redhawk. Good shot though.

Guyon is definetly not a fanboy, any man that owns 200 Beckers, 300 Busses, and 1.5 ESEE knives is not an ESEE fanboy.

Good luck RYP, I wish you all the best success you can achieve. You are a good writer, and an excellent professional psycho (I do mean that in the best way:D) Keep up the great work and don't get killed.

Guyon, you should put your toys away, before someone puts their eye out.:D

For the record, I own 2.5 ESEE/RAT knives.
I totally forgot about that RTAK II.
And I think moosez45 just wants my free knife from Jeff.

Bull$hit technicality (sp?), you still got 1.5 ESEE products, and 1 effin RTAKII. You still can't be a fanboy, hell, I gots more ESEE than you do, at least I've stalked Jeff and Mike, you still oggle the website, chicken$hit.:D

Oh, if I want a free knife, I'll just email Jeff and Mike and be like, "Hey, I get a 100 hits on my posts, let me review that Junglas for you"

Like that, ungh!

Saving a scrap of paper that Mike Perrin touched at Blade '07 doesn't count?

RYP, I'm sorry to keep derailing this thread, but it started out as a comical trainwreck, and I suppose I've helped keep it there.
I commend you on your adult response to this situation, and I do wish you well with this project. Judging from your posts and the recommendations I've seen here, the HEST folder has got a solid man behind it.

That said, I'm taking my Super Signature and going to bed.

No, you really, really have to stalk them. I will say, all the time I spent hiding a bush outside Jeff's trailer wearing a chicken mask, I still don't know who cuts his hair. Not sure I wanna know either, sheesh.

I do it...... In my underwear.

Now that makes since. You ain't blind, are ya? I'm just askin', no reason. I mean, Jeff wears a hat when he sleeps, so, its not like bad advertisin' or anything.

Nothing but love for ya'lls.

Looks to me like those quotes were taken from ESEE's own literature

Good find, I knew it!

Registered owners....of the LE knife. Which I am pretty sure your family did not get you for Xmas anyway.

although as i think about it and mat_890s apparent anger dpx is still giving a lifetime warranty to original purchasers of the hest le folder from what i've read. a knife made by lionsteel who have a great rep and promoted by ryp who also has a great rep. really is the knife suddenly worth a penny less than it was yesterday just because the distributer is different?

we still get a great quality knife at a very affordable price point.

take it easy
cricket

Exactly.

Personally I don't care if the knife ends up being distributed by Little Debbie or the Keebler Elves. As long as the folder has not been rushed and it is the same high quality titanium framelock that we have been promised the entire time and made by Lionsteel then I just don't see where it matters. As a customer I just want to know that there is a warranty that covers any manufacturing defect and an easy repair/exchange policy if an issue comes up. It's a folder and folders have moving parts. Therefore wear will take place at some point in time.....especially with hard use. I wouldn't expect a company to give a 100% "No questions asked" repair/refund policy to exist if the problems exist from high wear or abuse.
It seems like DPx is putting out a quality product and I don''t think we could ask for anything more than that. As knife owners we expect quality no matter who manufactures or distributes the knife. It sounds like that is what we are getting with DPx.

My understanding was that the LE was the pre-order through DPx's site and was not publicly advertised through a dealer network. The knives claimed but not paid for then were given to people on a waiting list. Although I could be entirely wrong.

The normal edition is (or was) available through ESEE's dealer network listed as a ESEE/DPx knife. This knife was and is advertised publicly through ESEE's dealer network and in many cases makes no direct mention of DPx. Your post suggests there are two sets of warranties, however RYP already chimed in with the warranty info.

Have I got that right?

Let me clarify the Xmas post I made because its been called into question more then once now. I'm a student with enough cash to get a byrd at max. For Xmas my family and friends asked for some ideas and I gave them a website saying I like ESEE (Never once did I bash their knives), Fallkniven, and Spyderco. I expect to get 3-4 new knives from 3-4 different people (yes I'm a lucky A-hole) so I figure its possible because the HEST and HEST folder is listed under ESEE I might get it. This was not a one in a million chance but indirectly requested. If I do receive one, selling it here is unlikely as I have no feedback. It may not be the same for you but me, a few others here and the OP (and countless people who don't want to get the S flamed out of them) felt that this was not Ok for such a radical change this late in the game. Even if I don't have a folder coming my way my position stays the same. My favorite dealer knows less then me and nobody other then Jeff and RYP knows the full story. A lot of people and dealers thought ESEE was responsible for this knife as it turns out its not. Which lead to my conclusion of the knife being misrepresented.

I'm glad RYP chimed in with the warranty info that quite frankly has been misquoted 100 times by 100 different people. This entire situation has been beyond confusing to people who are not OK with 'Its going to be OK' Its also awesome he is willing to refund any people like the OP their money. Thats very responsible and reasonable. The OP, myself, and I'm sure anyone else is satisfied

People are complaining about getting a lifetime warranty on a $200 knife?

Do they complain as much about getting a 3 year limited warranty on a $45,000 truck or car?

Or even a 1 year warranty on a $1,000 flat screen tv?

Does anyone know if Lamborghini has a forum? I don't own a Lamborghini and have no intention of buying one, but I feel the urge to go to their forum and complain about the colors they have available. And if someone happens to buy me a pink one, I'm gonna be ticked.

I recognize that you're likely to take this and run with it, but I have to tell you, you don't have a dog in this fight. I've been around here for a long time and seen quite a few things. Man to man... you need to drop this. This isn't an attack just some advice. Use it as you please.

Thanks man, I guess I got caught up in the craziness, it takes some some sober advice to realize when its gone on long enough.I just wish you said this a few hours ago. I won't take the bait any longer.

I consider the matter dropped.

Flame on!:)
