RYP is Canadian and the contact info for comebackalive.com is in Toronto. I couldn't find any contact info on dpxgear, and was wondering if it was in Toronto as well.

If you didnt order an LE, then your knife will be shipping from Italy... then probably to wherever DPX is... then probably to whatever dealer YOU ordered from...then to you.

It is an international product, just like almost everything these days. You think that customs is going to personally hold Rusty's knife while it is en route from the distributor to the dealer?

You worry too goddamned much.

You know that, in the end...this is just a pocketknife, right?

Well,

Just wanted to say good luck to ESEE and RYP. Good companies good knives. I thought that ESEE had been clear that DPx was its own thing being produced through them. That it was going to stand alone when the time came. And that it was good stuff (which I agree with love my HEST.)

Again good luck to all involved. And may the rest of us keep cool heads.

God bless,
Adam

Canadian law prohibits any knife that can be opened by centrifugal force. That means if a customs agent can 'flick' a knife even partially open a single time out of any number of tries, that knife will be seized at the border. It happens all the time, I'm not just being paranoid.

I purchased my production version from a Canadian dealer. That means if the knife gets turned away, it's the dealers problem not mine. If I order from a US dealer and it gets seized, I'm out of pocket.

As far as I was aware, the LE was originally shipping from the ESEE in the US. So I didn't want to risk losing my money at the whim of a border agent. If it's now being shipped from Canada, importation into Canada is now RYP's responsibility not mine. Call me crazy, but I'm not willing to lose $250 because a pivot wasn't set tight enough at the factory.

What a great and classic thread! A good train wreck is needed every once in a while to make sure everyone's blood is still pumping. Boring is no fun!

I don't know where you have been getting your information but ESEE Knives was NEVER the company that was going to ship the LE version. That was stated from day one. ESEE was only handling standard production run dealer sales. Nothing more. Again, this has been stated numerous times in a bunch of threads.

Hopefully no hard feelings Jeff. :D My office has been snowed in for 3 days now. That and a wife with bronchitis and a baby with an ear infection, I think I may be losing my mind. haha

So do you know? Is dpxgear located in the US or Canada? Or is this being kept secret due to the Buy American fanatics. (Insert Stir the Pot Smilie here)

Absolutley no hard feelings, brother. I feel for you on the medical issues. I'm just getting over bilateral pneumonia myself. Anyway, this thread has lifted my spirits. Like I said, a good train wreck is a needed thing every once in a while to make sure we're all still alive ;)

I'll levae that up to RYP to answer since I think there have been some location changes on DPx. I'm just not qualified to answer that one.

DPx Gear is an American company. Our website is hosted in Canada and the folks at Ingle have been doing a great job working on the site and working any order questions related to the web software.

what the hell is he smoking? Rusty. I will refund your money anytime. But please, talk only of things you know about. The knife is made in Italy from American, German and Italian components. It is being shipped to the US. There are no such laws preventing a normal pocket knife from entering the US. It is not a "flick" knife. All pivots will be tightened before they leave the factory and will be tightened again by DPx before shipment.

If Canadians customs wants to steal your knife on unfounded claims, we have no control over that. If the Fedex plane crashes, the earth ends and universe ceases to function we have no control over that. But if you don't get your knife. We will deal with it at that point. If it breaks or has a manufacturing defect we will fix it or repair it. If you want your money back you are one keystroke away from getting it back. I fail to see where the angst comes from. Wait.. over there... HEST Zombies are stealing your knife....! :)))

Now I know why Randall cuts all his hair off with a spoon...

Is my knife gone??? or is it still mine???

It's amazing that NOTHING HAS HAPPENED TO STOP THESE FOLKS FROM GETTING THEIR KNIVES but RYP and Jeff, who have bought you all so much enjoyment over the years need to be grilled here constantly because some guy developed a bad case of PMS over internal affairs issues that DON'T CONCERN THE PUBLIC one iota.

Show some respect folks.

Me? I missed out on the whole thing but I'll be happy getting a standard production model in any condition at any time.

I think this thread should get mention in the next edition of World's Most Dangerous Places :D

Ha! It may not be one of the "Most Dangerous", but I can definitely vouch the front lines of customer service being one of the worlds most frustrating places.

Welcome to the club, RYP.

I know it's not a 'flick knife' (ie automatic). But If you can open any folder by flicking your wrist, without using the thumbstud, CBSA will seize the knife. That's the way it is, period. They do it all the time.

The way I see it, If I buy from a Canadian store, importation is their problem. If I buy from a US store, importation is my problem. That's it, there's no angst at all. I just simply won't buy a folder from a US dealer, I'm not willing to take the risk.

It's no biggie really, I'll stick with the production version I have on order with a Canadian dealer.
