MOP Handles

Several more great photographs of knives here by Kerry and Rivit. Straitshot I have never heard that about the Pearl handled Revolver. Its very intriguing and I would be very interested to know if its true and if so learn more about it.

Here are some fascinating "little" MOP slippys I got recently. Fascinating because of they're size and believe it or not, these two blade pocketknives have half stops as well..

Oh my goodness! sunnyd, those are cute as a bug!;) I am really enjoying this thread:thumbup:

The nail nicks are almost as big as the blades!

Yes... those are tiny sunnyd. Can you identify the makers of them?

This is Victorian smoker's knife. It has a cigar cutter, pipe tamper, file, pricker, button hook and blades. Everything one needs for relaxing after dinner... perhaps with a nice brandy or port in the library or drawing room.

S-K,

Oh my Gawwwd my man, You are absolutely killing me with this vintage smokers knife.. She is an uncommon beauty. If there is any possibility you would ever part with it, I would be very much obliged if you would remember me right along side the thought of it.

Now, to answer your question: The only stamp on these two lil mop's is on the main blades tang: FOREIGN

I don't know if the maker intended a good laugh out of it or what. They seem to be fairly old. The fellow I got them from was 68 years old and he claims to have had them passed down to him from his father in around 1977-78 right before his fathers passing. He didn't know how long his Dad had owned them prior to that time though.

Another noteworthy item of information is that these lil mop's have carbon steel blades and back-springs and appear to perhaps even be handmade.

Thank-you sunnyd. I can't say I will never part with it, but chance are extremely slim to none at the moment. One never knows what the future will bring and I certainly will remeber your appreciation of it should it ever need a loving new home. In the mean time... I hope this suffices.

You are absolutely right, the nail nicks are nearly as big as the blades. And at first glance I wouldn't have thought they would be very easy to open, but they are nonetheless.:)

I am also enjoying this thread quite a bit too.. Keep em coming everyone!.

And Thanks Smiling-Knife!

S-K, incredible how that all fits together. I was going to ask you what the bell shaped bolster was for until I saw the tamper nestled over it, ingenious!

Thanks ea42. The bell-shaped opening at the end is where one inserts the end of the cigar. There is a pincer on a spring that is then pushed through to nip the end of the cigar. Cleverly, the opening is covered with the tamper plate when that attachment is closed.

If I recall - it's been 30 yrs - this is the first Mother I owned. I'm always a little hesitant mentioning Henckels around here because, well, because they don't seem too popular a brand. Hope I'm not pulling a big no-no. Mike

S-k , I didn't notice that at all, now I'm even more impressed. Today's multi-tools couldn't even dream of being that creative!

Eric

It only took me 25 years to stumble across this after I decided I just had to have one in my collection. It has a small crack in the handle and I still like it.

Now Greg,
What warm blooded knife EDC'n Male on this planet doesn't like a little pink in his life?. :p

BTW, Is the pink effect done by anodizing the blades, bolsters and backspings or some other method?
