"Mr. Sandman, bring me a 2024 Forum Knife!"

Personally I would like to see the next forum knife a bit less fancy, and 3 7/8-4 inches closed. A bigger bunny knife would be awesome, or a serpentine stockman with a punch, another lambsfoot would be great also since I missed out on the last one.
Another option could be a farm and field sodbuster type, keep the price down. I would love to have one but it was supposed to be a cheaper usable option from GEC, yet they often go for more than fancier options when you can even find one.

We have so many options on the 15 frame, I would really like to see something bigger but not over 4in. The 2023 is a nice size, but the springs are too stout and it’s too fancy for me to carry and use. I use my bunny (carefully lol), but wish it were just a bit bigger.

Also, I love the pioneer bone, it’s like a worry stone, so tactile to just rub and hold, better than jigged bone for me, ebony is also a great option, the wood on the bunny was great.

Imagine a 4 in bunny with a lambsfoot secondary in pioneer bone 🤤.

I would say the evidence certainly supports it. Secondary market pricing is below current retail ($200) for these specific BF23 knives Not all GECs, there’s definitely still room for flippers on most of their releases. I’m not saying I’m glad or mad the last batch is priced at 200, I don’t really have a dog in that fight.

And I would also say the secondary market has substantially softened for pretty much the entire market. A year ago you would see brand new releases marked up 100 bucks sell immediately all day every day. Recently the mark up is much less than that. Still not great, but it’s certainly slowed.
You gotta remember Spark himself said they will be watching the exchange to see if any flippers go ham and ban members from buying who do that kind of stuff.

That curbs the prices here on Forum Knives. I've seen them elsewhere mostly The Bay going for significantly higher.

Would definitely agree in whole that the market has softened a bit though.

You're saying all my magic words - big, bone, & lambfoot!

I'm imagining a 4" single-blade lambfoot with primitive bone (or smooth white) covers.

Won't somebody think of the children?!?!

You see, that's exactly what the problem is. People register on BF without an intention to actually chat about knives, start ramping up the post count to meet the required parameters to be allowed to buy one, and then vanish, leaving a trail of senseless posts. Or sometimes they stay and try to act like it wasn't only about buying a GEC, keeping with meaningless posts, which is even worse in my opinion.
damned if you do, damned if you don't..... 😁 🤣

Yes yes yes!
We all know that’s the ideal size for a pocket knife. I don’t know why there are so many that are much smaller, we ask for bigger, and they skip that perfect size and go straight to a monster 🤦‍♂️.

When the Oracle speaketh, we should listen!

(except when he speaks of upgraded steel - no powder metallurgy, please - something that responds to a hard Arkansas stone and a ceramic rod would do nicely. I'd like to see Buck do something in AEB-L, or a 425M throwback, or 5160, or... I'm really not picky - just don't like the powder stuff) :)
I don’t know the Oracle, but would like to meet him too! By upgraded steel I mean the same kind Buck used in the 2018 knife (one of the 154’s), I don’t know if it was a powdered steel or not, but it has held a nice edge on my 2018. I wouldn’t object to 420HC or 5160 either, Buck makes an excellent knife whatever they use. OH

If we cant get a 15 sabre ground sheepfoot, how cool would be a run of 21s or 71s with some wood handles??

Phar Lap has more chance at 2024 Melb Cup..😁
I will be honest, I do not get the reference, but I am assuming it means a suuuuper long shot. I Figure that dream knife will probably never come true, but I can always hope lol.

The Buck forum knife was a powder steel, CPM154. That is not a high vanadium steel and would be no problem with an Arkansas stone. There are a few powder steels like that - I believe RWL-34 is another example.. Most powder steels have high vanadium/niobium content, which makes them a bear to sharpen on Arkansas stones. They will actually burnish Arkansas stones (and alumina stones).

Well the Melbourne Cup is one of the world's biggest horse races, and Pharlap is still regarded as one of the best stayers in history. He died in the 1930s though so unlikely he'll win this year 😉

Another Aussie idiom would be "Buckley's and none" I.e. no chance!

I love learning about other cultures, thanks for the explanation! Interesting history, I had to go look it up.
