My experience with Ann_Dem

I agree. Time to take a Christmas break.

Marry Christmas ! :)

This is an odd thread. Near as I can tell, Ann has an excellent reputation with BF buyers--even having shipped knives to buyers before payment being sent. Yet a number of people are jumping on her for what looks to be no more than a misunderstanding. (Except the "8-10 emails/day" assertion. Ann: You really need to either prove that assertion or retract it.)

Weird.

Ann's facility with English, while certainly better than mine with any non-English language, appears to be less than 100%. I wonder how much of this might have been a "language/cultural barrier" issue?

I just ordered one of her Bôkers.Polite and fast email contact. It's X-Mas for every one.
Got my tracking number today.

I think you're right on.

Each of Ann's posts seem to dig her a little deeper in the doo-doo but the bottom line is, despite all the alarm bells that everyone seems to be hearing, Ann has a string of satisfied customers and one dis-satisfied one who cancelled the transaction on his own behest four days after placing the order and after failing to provide a shipping address when it was asked for and who received a full refund on his payment.

If that's a bad transaction it pales compared to some of the other horror stories I've heard on this forum.

i for one found Ann a pleasure to deal with! my deal was for the MPF-1 and the knife was sent before the money was sent. Merry christmas Ann.

I am surprised this thread has gone on so long and gotten so far out of hand with all the name calling and remarks towards Ann_Dem. Questioning one's gender, dealer statis, location and all is a little much in my oppinion.

I bought a $500.00 knife from Ann_Dem and sure I was a little concerned when I read the paypal address was Isreal and wondered what I had just done.

I received a prompt email in response and was told the knife would ship the next day. I had sent a little note about I found it strange a "Lady" would be selling/collecting knives but then again American Western World thinking about what is the Norm. I received a very freindly email back about "Her" collection and why she was selling a few here and there. She also apoligized a number of times if she wasn't clear as she was just learning English (something some people here wont even do).

To my surprise I had the door bell ring on a Sunday afternoon (Note Payment was made Thursday night) and low and behold there was a USPS Employee with a Package from Isreal I didn't expect for a couple more day if not a week.

Beautiful knife and far better in hand than the pictures. More friendly email and all was well, I had a nice knife at a price I wouldn't have found here and Ann felt one of her knives had gone to a good home.

A few months later Ann_Dem sent me advanced notice she was going to sell one of her favorites and made me an offer that I just couldn't swing at the time. I had seen the same numbered Limited Ed knife listed before and expressed to her that I thought she had sold it prior....She explained that parting with the this one she just didn't want to do as it was one of her favorites so she pulled it and listed the other one that I bought.

Again she listed the knife on BF and there was no interest and after a couple weeks I asked if the same offer would stand if I bought the knife and it did so I bought it, I had made arrangements to send a healthy deposit and get the balance paid in a few weeks.

I received a few emails from Ann about a delay getting to the Post Office but she would see too it that her "Husband Martin" would have the package out in the AM......I was stressing as I didn't have the balance and wasn't flush enough just then to pay and I let her know this.....She sent it anyhow and wouldn't even let me cover the postage we had originally discussed.

Received the knife a few days later and again it was far better in hand than the pictures posted.

I paid the balance ASAP, exchanged a few more freindly emails like we were old freinds and that was that.

The only thing I can see Ann_Dem Guilty is an over sight of "Male" and Location of IL which is prefectly Correct in her Account information. Selling a knife to someone who "Assumed" she was in IL, USA and got worried when he found out different which just made things worse for him. Then he was as also a "new Paypal User with an Unverified Address. Paypal sends a note with all Unverified Addresses to get the correct address before shipping anything.

He asked for his refund and he got it so why all the bashing of a member in good standings....time to make this ugly thread go way and get on with things.

Just my 2 cents worth from one that is totally happy with over $1500.00 worth of knives for way less.

Well there's 20 minutes of my life I'll never get back,LOL....

Who cares, Dave, you're going to live to be at least 120 anyway! Happy Holidays to you and your family! See you in Atlanta?

(Maybe with your weight and my weight we can gradually steer this thread in a more productive direction. ;) )

woah ! Thanks for this post Karsten !

Wish you and your family a Happy Christams and Happy New 2007 year :)

Ann,

No thanks needed here as I am just stating facts and past history between us.

Honestly I would rather deal with IL and you than some new IL, USA member or company...I spent some time in Lincolnwood, IL.USA and without an M60 you are well out gunned.

My best to you and your's and know the Damascus Blades are well cared for.

After seeing plenty of evidence that ties Ann with Vald, I would like to apologize.

I have been conned.

She has been banned.

Stay tuned for the evidence.

1)am I dealer - No , I'm not , there was thread about it on BladeForums , please read it.

2)am I vlad ? - No , I'm not , if someone may think I'm not Ann ? just pm me , I'll give you my phone number , call me and let's talk about in amateur form.

3)am I male - No, well my husband says he wouldn't marry me then

I wouldn't expect ann_dem to claim that "she" is, considering the amount of public attention that ann_dem would receive. The backlash would be phenomenal. Hell, "she" wouldn't be able to dump the knives ! :D

Again, due to a number of "issues" surrounding ann_dem, a closer look was warranted. Internet queries using ann_dem and or Vlad are very generic and as expected. . . .failed to produce substantial results. In an attempt to narrow the search for information, I decided to focus on the specific types of knifes that he's/she's selling. Amazingly, further queries opened several interesting patterns and outcomes. The biggest concern was that the search results seemed to direct me to several Russian forums. While this may not seem important to the unknowing, it is known in that this is where Vlad is known to frequent and dispose of his goods.

The following information is offered and consists of eight exhibits.

Exhibit 1: Ankrom 18-A

Sadly, ann_dem has removed the pictures of and a great deal of information about this knife on BFC, but it would be fairly easy for the new owner to identify the knife.

Several items to consider. . . . .

First, one of the things that I've noticed about forums is that the people that post there are rather consistent in the posting patterns. For example, words used, punctuation, sentence structure, the use of smilie faces, etc. In the example below, look how ann_dem and Vlad punctuate the names of the maker (i.e. no period after the "E") - a minor, but important point, due to it being repeated in other for sale offerings. Also look at the comma separation between "18-A" and "Devin" in Vlad's post, which is very common in ann_dem's posts.

Second, if you're familiar with Ankrom's work – you know that it's unique and very expensive. With that said, how many knives do you think he produced in this specific configuration ?

Talking to several people on BFC – they recall ann_dem's Ankrom offering and when seeing the knife that [Vlad] shows . . . they believe it to be the same knife.

Exhibit 2: W.D Pease

Again, ann_dem has removed the pictures of and most of the information about the knife on BFC. Several concerns. . . .

One, I'm somewhat familiar with this maker's work and like Ankrom, W.D.'s work is unique. With that said, how many knives do you think that he produced in this exact configuration ? The knife in question could be easily verified.

Two, ann_dem posts that the knife sold on 10 Dec. . . .yet, he/she removes everything in the original post on 16 Dec at 11:29 AM. Rather strange when taking into account that ann_dem doesn't do the same with other for sale threads.

Three, observe how ann_dem and Vlad punctuate the names (i.e., no period after the "D").

Four, ann_dem posted the knife for sale 11-04-2006, 08:08 AM and Vlad made his post, on guns.ru, on 2-3-2006 18:19. I would like to point out - according to ann_dem, he/she has had this particular knife in his/her possession for approximately two years. Here is the post that claims ownership for the time specified (12-10-2006, 05:30 AM - on page 2 – post #33):

Again, several people on BFC recall ann_dem's offering above and they claim that is looks like the same knife that [Vlad] lists.

Here is Vlad (Vladpv) selling the same knife on another forum:

Vlad posts on 26 Jun 05 and 3 Feb 06 that the knife in question are in his possession ? How can this be ? ann_dem has possessed the knife for "about 2 years (for sale thread began 4 Nov 06)."

Spacing of comma in Vlad's post above (between "Hanle" and "Robert") ? Look at the spaces between the comma's in ann_dem's for sale thread – they are numerous.
