My experience with Ann_Dem

Exhibit 3: Frank Centofante Folder

Here, ann_dem is attempting to sell a Centofante folder. Nothing unusual about this pattern from this maker. In fact, it's one of Mr. Centofante's signature "Tail Locks." What makes it unique - the exotic abalone scales. There is absolutely no way of duplicating the patterns in abalone.

First, look closely at the patterns in the abalone in both pictures. Those are the most obvious, but there are other similarities and consistencies in the patterns. The first picture was posted by ann_dem and the second by Vlad, which looks as if it was copied from a dealer's web site. They are the same knife !

Second, compare how the knife is described by and ann_dem and Vlad (highlighted in pink). ann_dem's commas are displaced, but the wording is exactly like Vlad's.

"A collection of knives ?" Sound familiar ?

Take a look at the "ICQ" number and e-mail address in Vladpv's post.

Once again, a displaced comma in Vladpv's post (between "Folder" and "Abalone ?" ann_dem ring a bell ?

Thank you my friend!

Exhibit 4: William-Henry Attache

Below is a William-Henry Attache for sale by ann_dem. Unfortunately, ann_dem and Vlad's pictures aren't very good and William-Henry Attache's aren't really uncommon. I find it suspect that ann_dem and Vlad would have the exact same taste in the exact same knives.

One of the points of contention. . . . .the displaced comma's. In ann_dem's post, there are two. In Vlad's – between "Coating" and "Aerospace." Again, something that is very common in ann_dem's posts.

Look carefully at the "1) William Henry – (B12MWD)" in the post below. Is it me or is Vlad's WH – (B12MWD) posting exactly the same as ann_dem's description above ? Dayum, look at all of the displaced comma's in Vlad's post. Hmmmmm. . . .

Searches on BFC and several other knife forums has revealed that Vlad "The Thief" has been known to use or is using the same e-mail addresses !

Vlad is also going by the user name – Soidav. Look at the ICQ # at the bottom of Vlad's posts. It's either displayed as 289892182 or 289-892-182.

Here's an Interesting thread of Vlad trying to rip people off - selling domain names that he doesn't own. Notice the e-mail address ?

Here's another interesting Internet query using ICQ 289892182. . . .

http://www.knife.ru/Forum/read.php?f=2&i=5679&t=5630

And the e-mail addy: Vladpv at netvision .net.il

Observe item #10 on the "For Sale" list and pay close attention to Vlad's serial number:

Vladpv said:

And ann_dem's "Benchmade For Sale" thread:

I was then able to trace "Vlad" to another knife seller. . . . . "StasKnives" at guns.ru and on several other OCONUS web sites. . . .

StasKnives said:
1)William Henry - (B5BT) Monarch Folder, ATS-34 with Tungsten DLC Coating,Carbon Fiber Handle, Stainless Fittings with 24K Gold Coating - $200

6)William Henry - (B15-CT) Attache, ZDP-189 w/Tungsten DLC Coating , Aerospace Titanium Handle w/Carbon Fiber Inlay - $550

Notice the similarities in listings made by ann_dem, Vlad, and StasKnives ?

Oh hell, nothing would be complete without a listing of StasKnives' knives, which bears a striking resemblance to ann_dem's "For Trade" list.

Vlad's pic shows the mirrored polish better than ann_dem's, but "she" indicates in "her" post that it is indeed "black mirror polished."

Exhibit 7: Laguiole Knives (2)

ann_dem's Laguioles. . . . . Look for the displaced comma's. The rarity of these two knives ?

A. Ebony and boxwood, Laguiole knife Damascus blade for sale !

A two-tone handle where the black Ebony blends with the lighter Boxwood.
The spring is ornamented with 'guilloche'.

LCD12118-XL.jpg

Notice the comma separation in ann_dem's posts ?

The next post . . . . Vlad . . . . .

19)Laguiole Knife - Ivory Slabs Handle , Twist Damascus Stainless Steel Blade

http://translate.google.com/transla...refox-a&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&hs=cIH

Notice the comma between "Handle" and "Twist" in Vlad's post and the similarities in the description of the knives ?

Also look at the ICQ # and e-mail addy in Vladpv's post.

The probabilities of Vlad and ann_dem having the same knives ?

Exhibit 8: Benchmade Osborne Innova

From ann_dem's "For Trade" list. Take a moment and look at the serial #:

From Vlad's "For Sale" list. And the serial number ?

9)Benchmade - Osborne Innova Knife, Purple , Partially serrated, 31/50

And the floating comma's in Vlad's post ?

What are the probabilities of two people, living in Israel, offering similar knives or the same knives ?

What are the probabilities of two people posting for sale or trade threads with like or exact descriptions ?

IMHO, ann_dem is Vlad or is working with or for Vlad.

And speaking of Inconsistencies ? Here's a recent example in the GB&U thread. . . . . .

I received a few emails from Ann about a delay getting to the Post Office but she would see too it that her "Husband Martin" would have the package out in the AM......

Karsten

Karsten receives an e-mail stating that "her husband's" name is "Martin."

Yet, she claims that her husband's name is . . . . .

There are several important things to remember about Vlad.

First, he, she, or they have stolen well over $100,000 worth of knives from collectors, dealers, and Knifemakers over the last several years.

Second, no matter what stolen goods are sold for, it means profit for the thief. Of course, the more money obtained from sales – the more profitable the thief becomes.

Finally, what better way to dump stolen goods than through the guise of a woman on a predominately male forum? Can you say, "Horn-dog" effect ? Undeniably, drastically reducing the selling price of knives will move the knives quicker. Low prices ?

Finally, it's a well known fact that Vlad the Thief is heavily into Microtech's. Especially OTF's – of the limited, high-end kind.

Oooops. . . .

That was detective work worthy of Sherlock Holmes. Sit back and light up your calabash pipe -- you've earned it!

I'm glad that the buyers of ann_dem's wares received such "tremendous" deals on the knives that were purchased.

Hell, ann_dem could be considered the "WalMart" of the knife world. . .even on one-off, extremely high-end custom and production knives.

When the deal looks too good. . . . .sometimes there is a "wolf in sheep's clothing !"

That was detective work worthy of Sherlock Holmes. Sit back and light up your calabash pipe -- you've earned it!

I'm Sherlock's cousin. . . . Mobile Homes. :D

The additional trouble for me is that is I have a couple of Benchmades (paid a fair price for them rather than a discounted one) that I can not enjoy owning or using and can not sell.

Gig, aside from my family, your friendship is one of my most cherished possessions. Thanks for everything!

One question though, how did Vlad/Ann_dem steal $100,000 worth of knives? Is there another thread on it?

oil

Never seen an "OWNED" thread ending like this. IMHO, youve proven everything more than it needs to be proved. The abaolone details were the kicker for me...maybe some of this research can lead to one of these wastes of space serving some time in jail.

I also hope Ann has been banned into the farest extremes of hell.

Perhaps you should copy all this documentation to a word doc and send it to the admins of all those sites. maybe with some collective IP snipping by admins, we can find some sort of address or person to go after. At very least all those sites can do a range IP ban on their providers.

I smelled a rat from the get-go. Gig, you *really* went out of your way with incredible homework and detective work. Law and Order always comes to a different conclusion in the last five minutes of the show. ;)

Gus, you were conned and so was everyone else. Vlad is a theif, and a damn good one. That's not to say everyone got scammed. Only in trust.

The MOST IMPORTANT thing to remember in all of this, is that we try to act as a community and help our brothers and sisters--especially when they have been wronged. Maybe not each and every knife that Vlad was selling was obtained illegitimately, but having ANY stolen knives negates dealing with trust. There are other instances and dealing that were posted on other forums of folks whose work was found to be in Vlad's possession (Circle P Knives lost some without payment, and Steven Vanderkolff lost his custom the this person).

At the very least this person was never forthright with their identity. That alone speaks for itself.

There will be some here who will be mad at this turn of events. Remember not to let the short-term satisfaction of a 'good deal' and friendly transaction overrule proper ethics and morality. I didn't.

BIG thumbs up, Gig!
