Name-A-Knife Contest

Allen-- Thanks for this fun opportunity!!
Well--I think that we have about 3 or 4 words in the English language left so I am going to give it a try.

ECHO : It is sent out one way and it comes back ever so slightly differently.

Hope this helps!!!

Just curious so I emailed Allen at his email add on his site. We'll know later...

DUAL-CLASSTwo makers who create classy knives.

OFFSPRINGI think this ones self explanitory.

ETHOS Two makers one design and the differences or tenets and beliefs of each maker will make two different looking knives from the same design.

RANSEURIt's a pollarm but it just sounds neat.

VISIONIt takes vision for makers to collaberate on a knife then make their own versions.

...The above suggestions are all fine n' dandy...but...how about "APEX"...simple, and reflects the superior design and craftsmanship capabilities of Crawford and Elishewitz...

Wow! The respons is overwhelming! Since everyone is posting, i might as well try. So here goes:

Since Allen and Pat are legends in their own time, how about 'SWUNG-ZEN'? It means twin zen in MANDARIN. A little exotic twist to it since it's built out of high-end, exotic materials.

I thought of another, it doesn't mean anything in any language: 'NAUSICCA'. Hey, maybe IS because it doesn't belong in any contex! It's in its own world, dimension?

Power to the blade and lightsaber

Well, I think my suggestions work best with a fighting-type knife, but how 'bout "Guardian" or "Protector"? Makes me think of a small, concealed defensive blade... Or, if the knife is going to be published on or near the American indipendence day, how about "The Patriot"? That should sell in the U.S....

If it's more an utilitarian blade, then... Darn. I guess my brain is geared up more towards fighting knives...

Maybe "The Worker" or "Workingman", preferably in some exotic language? (Naah, too much of a rip-off of Sebenza's name...) Hmm... Maybe I'll have to get back to you on that one?

Oops. Forgot "Defender", though that one might already be in use... How about "Lifesaver"?

HOW ABOUT THIS " PASSPORT OR VISA " BECAUSE YOU NEED ONE OR THE OTHER TO TRAVEL. AND YOU WILL NEED THIS TO TRAVEL INTO THE WORLD OF CUSTOM KNIVES.

Yes, it is true and we are very excited to be making a new and different
knife and working with Allen on this project. Thanks for the e-mail.

Sincerely,

Pat

That being settled, I would support the suggested name "JANUS". I like the twin concept of naming the collaboration knife between Allen and Pat; also, the twin can denote dual purpose: utility and defense. Janus is also the root word for this month (June), the month we give name to their knife.

Ooopps, June is named after the Roman god JUNO, another great name for the knife. Sorry for the wrong info![/]

I have a few names that I think would be appropriate for what I am picturing in my mind based on your description.

"Lazarus" - one who was brought back to life after four days. It has a modern sound, with ancient connotations, representing revival.
"Titus" - another name with historic meaning and is derived from the same word that Titanium is derived from. Meaning strength.
"Apex" - the uppermost point. The highest point one can achieve.
"Excel" - to be superior in quality, performance, degree etc..
"The Spirit" - a nice name for a knife of beauty.
"Harmony" - another nice name with obvious meaning, having more relevance considering the colaboration in this project. As well as the combining of old material craftsmanship and aesthetics with space-age materials and new-age design. Creating a harmony of the old and the new.
