Name-A-Knife Contest

Well, I have one I think fits pretty well- harkens way back to science class of yesteryear. Name the knife Moiré, which I'm sure you all remember is two patterns meshed together. If you don't remember, you can see an example I pulled out of a websearch: http://www.sandlotscience.com/Moire/moire_1.htm (hint: you'll need Java). To see one without java, try: http://www.jbum.com/jbum/pixmagic/galmoire.html
Y'all can stop trying now ;-)

Both ways could meen many things.

How about...: Dukat, Kira, Nog, Ja, Bengim, Dufont, Defiant, Ds9, Quark, Odo, big fat cow ( I would buy the knife myself if you named it that), slurb.

Allow me to propose the name "Firebrat" for your knife. The word itself is euphonious (sounds good) and it's fun to say. Try it. Firebrat. Firebrat. Firebrat. (Sort of grows on you after a while, doesn't it?) I'll bet this name hasn't been used before. Firebrats are fast-moving insects that can eat just about anything. That's how I like my knives: fast and hungry! Here's a link to a picture and a bit of natural history:

I will chime in on this one. How about diptych. Meaning "of or in two pieces" in reference to a single work of art.

Sam.

My suggestion is "co-conspirator".

If this name has been suggested already I apolagize to it's original poster. My eyes blurred trying to read through some of the name filled posts here.

I must say that Chicken biscuit is really unique though. HA HA

This is very impressive! We did not expect such a big participation. Since we already have a lot of names to choose from, Pat and I have decided to end the contest this weekend and announce the winner on monday. You now have a few days left to post your last ideas.
Even though we have narrowed the list down, it is going to be extremely difficult to make a choice.
Best wishes,
Allen Elishewitz

How about the "Twin", "Idividual", "Variation", or "Slice"

I was thinking the "Duo" until I read someone else suggest it. That would be a gread name.

When you mention chicken bisket are you talking about the ones you can get for $1 a box from Wal-mart. Those are golden, buttery and delicious. I could eat a few boxes in one sitting easy!!!! If this knife was as addictive as those I'd be in big trouble.

TRANSCENDER: You're combining the ancient, age old art of damascusing with space age material to provide a knife that transcends time. Two centuries apart technologies in one tool. I can't wait to get my prototype -- Thanks

I posted this before, but for some reason it didn't get attached to the subject. Name the knife the "TRANSCENDER." You're combining ancient, age old damascusing methods with a modern space age material to create an edged tool that trancends centuries in one design.

How about "The Symbiont" Something living in a synergetic or close relationship with another! Sounds cool to me!

The existance of the knife is complimented by it's user just as the user's life is complimented by the possession of a fine knife.

Or... "The Catalyst" The blueprint of the design serves as a "Catalyst" for each knifemaker to express his art and prowess!

Please pick me!!! Once again, the name should be "The Symbiont" or "The Catalyst"

Thanks,

Chris Canis

P.S I'm about a 10 minute drive from your shop on Preston Rd. Think of the postage you'd save! for the love of God I want you to choose my name!

The Sublime

Sub-lime adj:
1. noble; exalted
2. inspiring awe or admiration

I think the name would fit a knife
created by the both of you.

S Y N A P S E

syn*apse [1] (noun)

[New Latin synapsis, from Greek, juncture, from synaptein to fasten together, from syn- + haptein to fasten]

First appeared 1899
: the point at which a nervous impulse passes from one neuron to another

And as a verb, to come together as in synapsis.

A collaboration of two outstanding knife designers results in a blade that dynamically does as one thinks.

SYNAPSE by Elishewitz and Crawford.

Stay safe and all the best, Phil <-----<

Here are some ideas:

Makadara - strength, power
Umoja - unity
Imani - faith
Uwakfu - dedication

As well, Tongari - this means (sharp) point.

I think all the english definitions really sum up what is encompassed in the art of knife making.
