Need your help

I typically carry a folder that has a blade length between 3 and 4 inches, more commonly between 3.5 and 4".

It would be better to ask what I don't use my knife for. At home I use it for everything from packages, home improvement projects, to kitchen work. Outside the home I use it for cutting paper, cardboard, wood, food, packages, you name it. I've even had to use one to clear a trail to get to a sampling location. None of this even includes the constant poor lost soul I encounter nearly every week who needs a knife to cut something or open something and doesn't carry one themselves. If I'm going to be doing a lot of outdoor work I'll typically be wearing a fixed blade as well, usually 5.5 inches in blade length or less, because they're stronger than a folder. I could say my knife would be pressed into service as a defensive tool if I ever needed it, but I'm just as likely to use a chair, bottle, antennae, stick, trashcan lid, coffee cup, rolled up magazine or whatever else is handy if I get into a bad situation. So far, then only bad situations I haven't been able to extricate myself from involved a dog. I've been able to use my wits, bluffing, a firearm once, and cautious retreats to avoid physical violence with people the few times it's ever come up in my life.

I think I started carrying a pocket knives sometime around 10 or 11 years old. I started carrying a fixed blade for outdoor work at age 13. Gasp!!! I even regularly carried my pocket knife to school!!!! Of course, that was before America went crazy with paranoia about "weapons", so most boys where I grew up carried a pocket knife for sharpening up pencils, cutting paper or cardboard, or peeling their apple for lunch. I'm not that old either (38).

Hope this helps, whatever the problem.

My EDC knife has a 2 and one half inch blade I use it most frequently to open letters and packages, on the water to cut fishing line. I started carrying a knife when I earned my totin chip in the Cub Scouts at the age of 8 or 8 and one half

1 - I carry one knife that is about 2.5" and another that is about 4"

2 - I use my knives for any cutting chore I may come across, but usually for opening packages, dealing with stray clothing strings, and cutting rope and what not.

3 - I started carrying a knife regularly when I was about 17, though before that I carried a small slip joint from time to time dating back to when I was around 8.

Blade length is usually 3" give or take 1/2" or so.

Use is utility: cutting boxes, opening packages, light yardwork that requires cutting.

Started carrying a knife almost every day when I was 18, probably, but I've had pocketknives since I was a little kid.

Good luck with the case, if you need it!

Blade length: generally under 3"
Use: Utility, cutting things, opening boxes, slicing fruit
Age: 10-12

no sheeple around)
SAK and Ready Edge at work for boxes, rope, tape, electric wire insulation
and so on.
3. SD 20 years ago, when I was 19, SAK when I was 9 or 10.

Wish you luck whit your case, Sal.

1. What size (blade length) knife do you normally carry?
2. What do you use your knife for?
3. At what age did you begin carrying a knife?

1. I normally carry a folding knife between 2.75 inch and 3.4 inch blade lengths.

2. I fix computers so I need something strong enough to cut through a nylon zip tie and big enough to effectively take down the cardboard shipping boxes of a laptop, etc. Also a lot of electronics is packed in some hardcore tamper proof plastic packaging that you simply cannot open without a blade.

3. I carried folding knives in a sheath or a backpack as a cub scout going back to about age 10. I began carrying a knife on an everyday basis as soon as I was out of high school at age 17 which is about 10 years ago in my case.

Let us know if we can be of any help.

Oops. Nearly missed this.

1) Most often (by far) 3", often 2.5", occassionally 4".

2) Work, mainly pruning bushes and other contryside tasks. Home, too many tasks to list.

3) Aged about 6 or 7 (not sure, was a LONG time ago). Might have been earlier as I've been around sharp tools all my life (father's a carpenter).

Really hope everything goes OK.

1. I normally carry a knife 3 to 4 inches in legnth.

2. I carry for everyday utility.

3. I have been carrying everyday since I was sixteen but have been handling knives since I was seven.
