New GEC #13 Congress series (Clerk, Speaker Jack and Whip)

I like the look of that Micarta, nice aged appearance.

Fingers crossed for the Clerk and interest in the Northfield variants, Rat-Tails would be supreme.

I'm with you on the rat tailed bolsters, Will, but something tells me we're going to have to settle for threaded.

Muslin micarta? I've never heard of that kind of micarta.

This model will look great with a patina

But on second thoughts, will it have a PPP etch? I like to keep those. No sign of any blade etch at the moment..

The forum knife a few years back was the first knife on the 13 pattern, so none of these will get the PPP etch.

Asked a question on GEC FB page. When do they expect to ship. The reply was this week, ie. the week of the 20th. 20th being a holiday and since they are shipping to SFO's and clubs, could be two weeks before we can nail them down. I just thought I would pass this on.

Whatever happened to the Northfield stag whittler that was announced on CK early reserve? It doesn't seem to have ever appeared on the GEC production schedule.

There's some pictures of a frame without blades... appears to be a whittler

I don't know that I ever saw that? I reserved a NF stag whip and NF ebony, speaker. Really did not pay attention to whittlers

I still don't know if I'll end up keeping it, but I'm glad I reserved the jigged whittler. The red looks great, and I'm real happy with the tidioutte sheiks they used.
I'm looking forward to seeing how the speaker jacks turn out.

Looking at the pictures on GEC's site the knives are looking good. I think I like the looks of the red jigged Tidioute. I think I see a cutout relief in order to access the pen secondary but the pen doesn't extend that far. Anyone else notice this? I may be wrong, and someone please correct me if I am, but it looks like a relief with no purpose to me.
Thanks,
Rick

I'm just waiting on the jack knives. The whittlers at the moment don't really grab my attention too much ever since I got a #38.

The Speaker Jack definitely has the notch (like the bladeforums knife).. I also see a wrap around spring for the secondary. You can see both in the picture below.

I have decided I am just a sucker for multi-blade traditionals. All of these multi blade 13s look so good! Now imagine that same rust red bone on a #35 stockman - if only.

It's the micarta that does it for me on this run. Not sure if I like the whittler or the speaker jack more.

It seems to get old saying this every time that a new run comes out but, GEC knocked it out of the park again. I am fortunate enough to work about 20 min from a dealer so I was able to pick up a Stag Whittler yesterday afternoon. Everything about it is super. As per the previous posts this one is a split spring with double pin blades. The main blade does not have a half stop but, the pin blades do. Here are some quick pics along with one next to the 2013 Forum #13.
