New GEC #13 Congress series (Clerk, Speaker Jack and Whip)

Just got my blackwood from American Whittler. Very pleased!

Could someone with the whittler post a picture with the pen blades open to show
1) how close to proud the sheepfoot tip is
2) how high the peak of it is in relation to the grip when using the pen blades

They sure look great, guys. I can't wait till I get mine, but I'll have to wait a while. It's on its way, which is great. I just hope the customs office won't look at it too long, you never know. Sometimes they're incredibly quick, sometimes they really take their time. There must be some secret knife nut among them or something. :D

Anyway, has any of you got one with the muslin micarta? Are you pleased with it?

Looking good! - with the exception of the one on the center left that appears to have some muslin bonus material...

FYI some red bone and muslin whittlers up at Derrick's place (BF sponsored dealer so I think its ok). I am sure they won't be there long.
They look great

I just ordered a Red Jigged Bone Speaker Jack today. Goal is to have one #13 in every style :) I'm very excited for the Clerk and Whip to roll out since the Wharncliffe blades really look amazing.

BIG thanks to you sir! Got one of the 2 blade patterns in red jigged. I'm hoping I can get a whip to compare all 3.

HAPPY DAY! -JIMBO

Looks like the red jigged sold out fast! The site I picked mine up on this morning is already out of stock.

That's what I just realized too. I have a reservation on two others, so not too concerned. Its just another knife:cool:

I think the longer sheepsfoot on the Speaker Jack looks wonderful. I wasn't sure about the offset shield from GEC's production photos, but getting a better look at the finished knife in these photos, I think it looks fine.

My Muslin micarta arrived today with pictures to follow. I do like the micarta scales and I'll have to play with it over the weekend to see if it's a keeper.

If you zoom in on my second picture above you can see the the main sheepsfoot blade is proud of the frame but not proud when gripping if one of the pen blades are closed. The peak of main blade when using the pen blades does stick somewhat high and in a normal grip for me hits right about 1/4 way up of inside of middle finger (large hands). If I adjust my grip slightly forward than normal the peak falls in between my middle and ring finger which is more comfortable using the pens. Hope this helps.

It does, thank you! Do you think there's space in the frame to drop the point below the liners?

It appears there would be if you modified blade. I don't think you would be able to drop the main blade too much further into the well due to inward kick of the middle pin.

Absolutely agree as the Speaker has this long reach Sheepfoot that is low riding, putting the shield further up to the pivot gives a better balance than conventional symetry .
