New GEC #13 Congress series (Clerk, Speaker Jack and Whip)

One thing I noticed with the #13 Whittler. The pen blades move rather easily inward towards the main blade when extracting giving you the inevitable blade rub. You can prevent this by always deploying the main blade 1st or carefully and consciously deploying the pens vertically not letting them go inward towards main. Not a big deal if it's going to be a user but perhaps good info for anyone planning to store as case queen for collectibility.

The Americans in blackwood are just stunning. Got my Muslin along with a KSF denim 71 today... Micarta Mailcall of a lifetime :)

This is a habit you learn very quickly, to always open the main blade before secondary or third on a whittler

Now I have a Muslin whittler and .... count it.... 3 speaker jacks due to my obsessive e*** bidding! :)

You are correct Will. I wonder why GEC makes standard issue shields? Whenever they mix it up everyone usually loves the look, why not change up shields all the time? The hotdog and cloud are, dare I say boring these days.

I have a theory, and it's only that, that GEC saves the "good" shields for SFOs in order to maintain a high level of interest in them. I think any shield has the potential to be boring if a person sees it a bunch.

I agree tho, the hotdog and cloud don't get me all that worked up anymore.

The hotdog is ok but I won't buy knives with the cloud. I've wondered if they're saving the traditional shields for when/ if interest fades in their product. Bill probably just likes them and they've gotten efficient in putting them in.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I recall the shields are stamped. So they'd have to make new stamp blanks and punches for every shield, which would get expensive. I would guess the price of doing so is factored into SFOs more easily than for every standard run.

There was a picture, in the "whats happening" section, of a whole wall of stamps and dies? for every different shield they have ever done. Seemed like there was dozens and dozens of stamps.

What a great pattern, those SFO's are really something nice! If anyone feels the need to offload astag shoot me a PM, I think it's the only one I'm going to miss out on. Keep the pics coming, these are real beauties!

Looks like the Muslin Speaker Jack has hit dealers! I do like the Muslin on the Whittler and I'm sure it will look equally good on the Speaker Jack. The Northfield Ebony also looks great!

Nice American Whittlers Tim and Alchemy, they are simply gorgeous knives.

Great looking stag whittler Harry. Congratulations! I have my fingers crossed on a stag from this run. I do have a red jigged bone whittler arriving soon :)

Thank you very much Chris . I have what I consider better Stag on other GEC's , but I Do Not have any with Thicker Stag , or one that is any better made . I always have said that there is no Bad Stag . This is my first ever Congress and only second 3 Bladed Whittler . To me , they are a very interesting knife because of the way they are constructed. One of the earlier posters , I think 007 warns us to only open the Pen Blades after opening the Main Blade to keep them from scratching . I would also advise you to follow his good advise . Also the Sheepsfoot blade is a little proud on mine , but just barely and not a problem at all . F & F is just fine .
I will be pulling for you to get a STAG Chris and hope that you get a Whittler made as well as mine . That Red Jigged does look pretty nice .

Be well my friend !!!

Harry
