New GEC #13 Congress series (Clerk, Speaker Jack and Whip)

jFLiuhn.jpg

I've been getting into the half congress pattern lately. God knows how many vintage half congresses I've looked through in the past week! Im sure I'll be VERY pleased with the clerk.
Having said that, I sure do wish they had went with something like the picture above.
Pen and shortish sheepsfoot with rat tailed bolsters and stag with a bar shield. Oh and all steel construction!
That would have been an absolute dream come true.
I don't mean to be overly critical, because like I said, I'm very pleased with what GEC came up with.

As I've said before, my main focus is on the stag clerks, but MAN that ebony is tempting! They really knocked these out of the park!

I guess we can't have it all Erik :p I'm waiting till I get my hands on the Speaker before I decide which one I like better. I like the two pivots, but not so much the three blades. The clerk would have been it, but I got confused about the office knife and did not reserve one.

Just picked up Muslin and Ebony Clerks. It will be great to see the two Wharncliffe blades in Tidioute and Northfield configurations when they arrive.

Oh that etching looks good. Hope I can snag one. Don't think I got in on the reserves in time for that one.

Just paid for my stag (of course) clerk, but really looking forward to the etched bone clerk (I hope).

Hope has been dashed. I just got an email that my reserve for the etched bone clerk fell short. Oh well, good thing I have a 2015 CSC Bladeforums knife on the way. Kinda similar profile as far as being slim, a little longer, with different blade selection which I prefer. After that description the only thing they have in common is they are both knives, haha.

I thought the etched bone on an SFO for a knife club looked particularly good. Nice script and I think a beaver in the centre, I wonder how durable the etching will prove to be? It might wear off quickly or?

I think a Micarta Clerk is on its way as I write, very pleased about this but I think I'm going to have to buff up those bolsters, not keen on matte bolsters at all, blades yes they're good. I brooded over the Stag but the choice of slabs didn't look as good as other runs and I still maintain that it needs a shield so I left that out. I hope the W&T is going to be good on these as a single-spring knife cries out for it. Now stalking the postman commences....:D :D

I see my Micarta Clerk has also been shipped. It will be interesting to see how the Wharncliffe blade works compared to the sheepsfoot. One great feature of the Tidioute Speaker Jack is how pinch-able the main blade is.

Do the blades on the Clerk knives ride on a single backspring with catch bits? Sorry if I missed this detail, but I have not seen a pics showing this detail (backspring).

Finally, the stress can come to an end!
I've got a stag clerk coming my way.

Now I just need to focus on resisting the urge to pick up an ebony clerk.

It's lasered - the script should be very durable.
