New run of 54s

lol, thanks. It's with me daily so it has a fair amount of wear on it now. I'm hoping to add one of the DLT singles to my daily rotation. There's times when I wish I had just a smidge larger blade and I think the 54 will fill that need.

I don't see me ever parting with this one...

That's about as nice a stag cover as I have seen! Look pretty well matched too, from what is showing. And topped off by a good-looking lanyard bead. That one would be with me every day as well!

I didn't get in on any of the stellar looking M&G SFO's, but I did preorder the DLT in blood red bone and I am rather excited about it, it looks like it is going to hit all the right buttons for me.
  • Large frame - Check!
  • Single Blade - Check!
  • Spear point w/long pull - Check!
  • Red bone - Check!
  • Attractive Shield - Check!
Ok, I am really excited. I am hoping it measures up to my rather high expectations... I am loving everyone's pictures, by the way. It looks like GEC is turning out some very fine looking knives.

GT, that almost has to be a typo on the website since GEC (as you know) has a standardized numbering system. I have not seen any variations from it yet and can't imagine a reason they might change now.
I'll check what the tubes are on Monday, but I'm pretty sure they're 542117
It would make sense to me that the single spear SFO would be 542117. My two bladed Jack is labeled 541217. Thus, would appear to me to be a typo on GEC website for the 54 DLT SFO.
...
Thanks for the input/confirmation, James & somber & 007hunter. Someone in the "Let's Talk GEC" thread directed me to photos of blades for these knives at the GEC website, and those blades are stamped as we'd expect: 542117. So I'm sure the new release artwork for the DLT SFO was just a case of cut and paste with some inadequate editing; I've certainly done that myself a time or two!

Wooohoooo! Check yo emails.
Just got the privilege of paying for a few single blades. More expensive than I hoped, but still can't wait to get them in hand.

And....
-Snakewoood - Check!
-Appaloosa - Check!
-Burlap - Check!

The pictures look amazing....the only missing item for me to perfection would be a satin blade, but hey...beggers can't be choosers!

Break out some 600 or 800 grit wet/dry paper and a Popsicle stick and have at it or just let it patina. Not a fan of shiny blades here, either:(

I just got done (for the moment) fondling my new M&G ebony moose. What a masterpiece. I need to find the dough for the bone version while I can...

As I was looking to justify another big jack purchase, I noticed the blade setup is different than the 2014 run. On the 14 run, the spear sits in front of the clip and both blades open on the mark side. This new run has the clip in front, opening on the mark side, and the spear opens from the pile side.

Red River acrylic ordered!

Just got the notice for my Blood Red and Burlap SFO's. Cant wait to get them , but, agree with the other that I would prefer a satin blade. Just looked at the just finished section of GECs website and saw the all satin Muslin Micarta SFO, hot damn, wish it was a single too.

I like the older 2104 way better, but I'll just have to get used to this way too.

I'm looking forward to trying out the new setup!

It was hard to open either blade on my '14 54 while wearing gloves and it looks like maybe the clip might be pinchable on the new ones.

ETA: the KSF muslin micarta 54s look sweet for sure, can see myself owning one!

I was a bit late to the party this year but that Appaloosa bone looked awesome sad I missed out on that action. Maybe I will catch one second hand later on.

Paid for my Burlap, can't wait to have it hand! Gonna be a work horse!

There's a handful of single blade 54's up on DLT's site.

A few of the snakewoods look real nice - hopefully the one I preordered looks as good.

Really like the covers on the M&G

I wonder if GEC made the covers in house or were they supplied by M&G?

My Red Blood is on its way to me now. Come on USPS and Canada Post!

I ordered the beaver tail from DLT yesterday. I'm excited for this one.
