I received the last of three knives I ordered from Newt today!
We all know Newt has been having problems, but I wanted to say how happy I am with all the knives I bought from him :D
I'd also like to thank Newt's daughter Joda and her husband for stepping up to help fulfill Newt's back orders. Joda was extremely helpful and Newt is lucky to have her as his daughter.
I'm very happy with the quality of all three knives I bought from Newt. I hope he can recover from his problems - he makes great knives at fair prices.

I got some sticks from 30 inch sticks from them as well. Great dealing with them and I found out that Joda is a big Razorback football fan.

How did you get ahold of Newt? do you have contact info? I'm still waiting(over 1 year for part of my order) any help would be great.

I had a great experience with Livesay knives as well. Joda was nice to deal
with as well.

I always had great experiences when ordering from Newt.
The quality was well worth the wait!
Great knives!!!

Alleuro,

The folks that are receiving their back orders are not getting them from Newt, they are getting them from Mt Sequoyah Knives. We have requested many times that if newt owes you a knife or knives to send an email to me or my wife at darrell@mtsequoyahknives.com and we will try and help you. We have been posting emails and receiving emails from people that have not received their knives for over a year and this is the first we have received any notice from you. Please keep in mind that Mt sequoyah does not in any way guarantee any back orders that newt owes. If you will send us an email describing what newt owes you we will do what we can, if you have your original invoice please supply us with a copy of that also. As of this email, as far as we can tell there only two other customers that have not received their knives. As of Nov. 30th unless we are notified all orders will be considered filled and we all can put this behind us and get on to other things.

If you are going to live on the edge,
you need a knife that hold one.

Well, this is pretty obvious. MS Knives is Newt Livesay. The spelling and grammar of MS Knives is the same as Livesay's. The last name of Parent is something that Newt used a long time ago with his daughter, and Newt's good friend Fudo is pushing this "new maker." But hey, if it gets people's back orders finished and to them by using a different name then more power to the name change.

U can't say it's actualy "Newt Livesay"... BUT otherwise I believe you R 100% correct AND like you say, if IT gets backorders filled ALL the better! After all said and done THAT is most important. IMHO.

What an ignorant statement Rocky Mountain  ! I know for a fact that MS Knives is not Newt. The man's name is Darrell Parent and his wife's name is Joda. Joda IS Newt's daughter. He has a shop in Fayetteville, AR and his own line of knives at www.mtsequoyahknives.com He will be at the Tulsa Gun Show this next weekend, why don't you stop by and introduce yourself. Fudo is a good friend of Newt's and Fudo is a good friend of mine. Before you run off at the mouth you should check your sources!

It will be over as far as you are concerned, but if Newt owes other people knives, then he will still owe them the knives. There is no time limit that can be put on it.

I wish Mr. Parent all the best. It's an honorable thing to pay another man's debts. It's just great to hear that Livesay style knives will be around for some time.

Rocky Mountain- Newt has never used the name Parent. Joda does, because that is her name.Darrell is married to Joda. Darrell learned to make knives from Newt, among others, and is just now making knives in his own new business. He is a real stand-up guy and he makes a pretty good knife, especially for for someone so new to the business. Mt. Sequoiah Knives(Darrell) and Newt Livesay have separate business and are not in any way affiliated and have no financial interest in each other.
. I have no financial or other interest in either business. I am a long-time friend of both Newt and Darrell and I am not trying to hide that. I am a fan of any guy who makes a well made knife for a reasonable price.
Edited to note that Rocky Mountain posted again while I was typing, and to remove a hasty comment

I received a very polite email from fudo explaining the whole situation to me, and I now know why Darrel posted what he did. What Darrel has been doing is in my opinion going above and beyond anything that most people would do. He is a total class act and one of the people that make the knife community very special.

Darrel, I want to say that I am very sorry if my comment in any way offended you.

I didn't see any phone number or address on the website. The "contact us" button leads to an e-mail. The warranty information gives only a POBox. Don't know about you all, but I generally don't deal with internet purveyors that don't provide a phone and street address. Without full contact information, you don't know if they are real and you can't track them down if you need to.
