Nice features on new A G Russell Ti Framelock..

A.G. Russell has made a living selling knives for what, 40 years now?

The price is what it is because their are premium costs with the materials involved...and obviously the knife is being sold to make a profit, like every other knife on the market.
Sure AGs prices may run a bit high..but its just that, a bit. To people who spend a lot of money each year on knives, this isn't an issue. This is the people this knife is marketed for.
I mean some guy with 5K worth of CRK is going to say this one is too pricey? Cmon.

To the people that think this should sell for 40 dollars or some other absurd amount, show us all how its possible.

I think I am wishing that it was cheaper because I really want one. But if the quality is exceptional, then I won't have any problem buying one.
I like the idea of having a Sebenza-ish knife with a Hinderer lock stop.

Quality should be exceptional. Made by Kershaw.:thumbup:

I don't understand the negativity. Maybe if it had been properly placed in the General Knife Discussion, it wouldn't have stirred up the CRK crowd, like a challenge.

But the knife itself is aesthetically clean, balanced, great materials, well designed. No, it's not a Sebenza. It's not an XM-18, either. What it is, is another fine titanium framelock, worth considering for those with the money. And A.G. was being courteous in acknowledging the positive examples that came before and from which he drew his inspiration.

 I agree. I'm a huge fan and supporter of the Sebenza, and I don't see anything to be upset about, just things to be excited about as a fan of RIL folders.

A fair price for a copy whether it be a Rolex or a Sebenza is about 10% of the original. So this knife should sell for around $40. $375 is absurd, even for AG Russel, who tends to overprice everything.:thumbdn:

The AG Russell copy is to Sebenza what Dark Opps is to Extreme Ratio. :jerkit:

How about Chris Reeve Clone?

How about "Sebenza Copy"?

Don't you think you've managed to make your point yet, in the two threads pertaining to A. G.'s new knife?

I don't think it'll happen, but it would be nice if he elaborated on why he feels this particular Titanium handled framelock, as opposed to the hundreds of others on the market, is a more of a Sebenza ripoff.

Because unlike other frame locks, that have changed the design to one degree or another, this seems like a direct copy. If it was a direct copy offered for <=$$50, I could see it. At the price, it's a joke.

As for AG Russell's CS, I bought one of his one handed knives years ago and it wouldn't take an edge. I used stones-crock sticks Etc, but nothing would get an edge on this piece of crap. I sent it back in to be sharpened and they sharpened it all right. They put it on a bench grinder and ground down part of the thumb stud. That was an expensive knife for me then and I was very disappointed in the service. I'd never buy, nor would I recommend their shop to anyone. :thumbdn:

Ah, it makes sense now...

I would recommend AG Russell's company and products very highly to anyone. This knife is a good example why. Bunch of different makers strong points included with their blessing and credit given to them, and a nice steel at a price point that reflects it's value.

Can you give a little detail about how this is a direct copy? I'm still not seeing it. Handle shape is different, thumbstuds are different, blade shape and grind are different, lockbar stabalizer in place, no mention of a pivot bearing, no blue spacer, convertible pocket clip.... So what makes it a direct copy again? Is it the Ti slabs with integral lock?

Really? More so than this:

[Link removed to see if it breaks pop up]

Were you as vocal about the Bradley Alias as you've been about the A.G. Russell Acies?

It's a non-issue, and the knife looks %$^&*%^ awesome. I will buy one at that price, depending on user reviews.

Genuinely without meaning to offend, I would suggest either getting your eyes checked or learning something about the difference (entirely facetious, I've no doubt you know the difference) between different grinds. Otherwise, I can only assume that something is clouding your judgement.

And that's not even taking into account the Hinderer thingamawho, reversible clip, different shaped and more low riding clip, smoother handle/jimping on the blade, ambidextrous thumbstud and different (many would say better) steel. All things considered, A.G. Russell's offering may well be an improvement, even if something of an amalgamate, on all other titanium handled frame lock offerings thus far. And at a fair price, to boot.

If it bothers you so much, perhaps you could email Chris Reeve and ask his opinion? Or, you know, continue to beat the drum here...

Are you waiting for godot to get the point? :D

Naw, just hanging around. Yeah, that's probably so poor that it can't even qualify as a bad joke.

Now I'm just sayin - I thing the top one is much more attractive. It may be the photography or whatever, but the logo in the bottom pic looks like CR knife and it's not as good looking at all - to me anyway.

I can't believe I just got my butt reamed over the coals by some folks in the "cheap knives" thread and I was just defending the merits of a Spyderco Military compared to some peice s*** CCC that costs $5 - $25!

Lot's of $$ for these knives being discussed :D

Godot, your replies are about as absurd as the play Waiting for Godot. Actually, they're more absurd.

Well he just clued us in as to where his dislike of AG Russell comes from. Someone sharpened one of his knives by hand and made a mistake and took some of the thumb stud off probably without knowing. But instead of contacting AG Russell again and figuring out something to make him happy he now feels the need to troll Bladeforums trashing AGR any chance he gets. I can see being upset but when AGR offers such a good 100% satisfaction policy, his constant negative remarks just seem childish. If it was that big of a deal then he could have got his money back if he had taken the little bit of extra time to get everything figured out.

Edit: I would bet that 98% of the time when someone can't get a knife to take an edge, it is the user that just can't sharpen the knife. Maybe it was the piece of crap sharpener and not the knife?

If you are not happy with the knife, send it in and get your money back.
No questions asked.

That is AG Russell's warrenty and that is part of the extra price.

I'd like to justify spending the money for this offering but it's a little too rich for my blood. Very beautiful knife!

Wow! So because your unable to sharpen a knife on your own nor do you seem to possess any people skills, we have to read all your silly unwarranted rants. I have a Sebenza and I have purchased from AG Russell and both experiences proved to be top notch! If you were unhappy with the service you received from AG I truly believe if you would of continued (Civil) contact with them it would have been resolved. As for you $40.00 copy statement, maybe knives are not your thing, maybe you need a different hobby. Something that is not as difficult to understand as knives and sharpening and all the crazy materials. ;)

P/S I think the new offering from "AG" is a dandy!:D:thumbup:
