Northwoods Bear Lake

Hey...I have been a little behind on all my forum stuff.

First off, I am sincerely grateful that people are interested in Northwoods Knives. Ultimately, I get to make knives I want and that is exciting. Let me hit the high points from this thread and if I missed anything, let me know.

Covering a couple topics...

What is the Steve Knife? I called this knife the Steve Knife because Chris kept asking me for a name and would write me and say, "What is this knife's name?" So I named it. It was named after Steve Jobs in hopes of pissing off a bunch of people because I am stealing his name. :) I am not releasing any data on the knife early except that it is a new pattern.

Why do we release knives like we do? I know it frustrates people that we drop all the knives at once, but it is the only way we know of to make it fair. I am very sorry it doesn't fit for everyone. We are working to make that better too...

My marketing. I am appreciative that people like our videos. There are far too many goofy things about me out there. It embarrasses my kids, so I think that is a win.

I don't want to get this knife because... I can appreciate that. Not every knife is for everyone.

What about the knife coming from another manufacturer? It is still in the works. We hit some hurdles, but are making our way through. Bark River is going to make at least one model for us, but we have something else in the works that will be a game changer....hopefully. :)

Thanks again for everyone's interest!

I am not releasing any data on the knife early except that it is a new pattern - you kids must wait until Christmas day to open your gifts by doing so enthusiasm will either grow or....

Bark River is going to make at least one model for us - Bark River?

something else in the works that will be a game changer...hopefully - Certainly looking forward to a "game changer" ...Thanks Derrick

I assumed that what happened previously was an accident and won't happen again. I'm also assuming this comment was a mistake. We all make mistakes. Northwoods has made some interesting tweaks to traditional patterns. The blade grinds on some of their knives is one example. It is this sort of original thinking that will bring them success. I'm looking forward to seeing the "Steve" and the work with Bark River.

I am going to say something positive. Its great that GEC have decided they are no longer the Knivesshipfree SFO giraffe bone company. I hope this exclusive knife sells really fast and GEC can quickly get back to its main game.

Were you drunk when you posted this?

I don't understand the joke or the reactions to it, so I'll just wish Derrick well with the new knives and new manufacturer(s).

Hey...I am sorry about the joke. It was in bad taste. Just in an ornery mood I guess.

It was a mistake and that is actually why I thought the "Steve" joke was a little humorous... It really was a mistake and one that I made amends for. The reason it was on my mind today was that there was a whole bunch of other discussion on it earlier....

Sorry, guys. Steve was just a funny name I gave GEC.

This was certainly uncalled for...considering past instances.

Agreed Jake

Derrick, I'm sure you already know that I'm a big fan of your company and what you do with the Northwoods line. I love that you keep things light and fun. Your videos always make me laugh. I love that you're just a big nerd, like most of us. I appreciate the reminders that this is all supposed to be fun. Things don't have to be serious all the time.

I don't know if I'm going to be going after a Steve. I don't understand how people can be clamoring for a knife when they have no idea what it's going to be. However, I do enjoy watching the excitement build. I can't wait to see what you've come up with. Hopefully it's something that I can't live without, and I'm one of the ones complaining about how hard it is to get the exact knife I want. ;)

Just a reminder, keep the discussion about knives, please.
