Welp, I like those blades with elk scales better so I’ll wait for my new forum knife to come and see what November’s BOTM is…it’s my birthday month so an elk handled camp spatula would be sweet!
yep....im not a huge fan of the 300s,. but brass won me over. I'm one of the few here who likes brass.....not on everything but just like it sometimes......so I went in for one......
I got the September 2021 BOTM 301 (black Micarta) when it came out. Another time and I would get this one also, but buying the BF 2022 knife and the BCCI 152 this month tapped me out. I am going to pass.
Edit: Although, the S30V instead of 420HC and brass instead of the nickel silver bolsters is tempting. Hmmm....
I like to use the BotM purchases as a chance to pick up cheaper Buck merchandise with free shipping. Buck has surprisingly high quality shirts and hats (as do Spyderco and Northwoods). I noticed they have some new designs in and couldn’t resist picking a couple up.
Now if the darn rosewood 303 would just come back in stock…. It always seems to be sold out when the BotM comes around.
Also…. I’m not trying to be an enabler, but I’ve only seen a two bladed 301 offered by Buck two other times. Both times there was was a huge amount of regret shown by everyone who missed out.
Both of the previous offerings were nickel-silver. This is the first with brass. It’s also has the most premium steel offering to date (cpm-154 and 420hc previously). I think the brass and upgraded steel are easily worth the $30 premium over last year’s offering.
Usually not a fan of brass but this combination looks very nice. Bought a Primble half whittler earlier in the day so really had to stretch the budget to get this one.
Don't forget the BCCI Club 301 in BG42!! I bought that one because I knew in my heart it would be the absolute only one made in that steel. I carry it occasionally but only lite use..
Just ordered my FIRST botm. This one is just too nice, a 2 blade stockman (never had one before) with excellent steel for a small folder, beautiful profile in green micarta, full flat grind blades, WOW I am excited for this one.
