Official "Move Your Butt" Becker Point Challenge Thread

Been busy lately, but here are my updates.

11/20-21: biked to work 3 miles a day for total of 6 miles

11/22: Forgot some stuff at home after I biked to work, so I had to make a trip back to pick it up. 6 miles that day.

11/23: My family came into town, and we went and biked the Golden Gate bridge and some of the surrounding area. Surprisingly that was only 9 miles. We walked around for a mile or so at least killing time after missing the ferry back.

11/25: Biked to work, so I'll be forced to bike back home, so thats another 3 miles.

All together for these days that makes 24 miles of mostly road-ish biking. 24/4 == 6 BP. Then the 1 mile of walking for 7 BP.

So to date, I'm at 9.25 BP.
 
My brother and I moved 20 tons of gravel this weekend, so my BP accumulation was slowed. However, I did get into the gym for a tiny swim - 1/4 mile, yesterday, Nov. 24. The kicker (heh, pun unintended) is that I did fin swimming with some stubby little exercise fins instead of regular stroke swimming. Swimming with the little fins is faster than stroke swimming but not as fast as using regular fins. Therefore, I propose the BPs allotted for fins be reduced by 33 percent of the swimming sum of six points per mile, making an SLF (Stubby Little Fin) mile worth four points. If there are any objections, just let me know.

11/24/13: 450 meter/1/4 mile fin swim, 1 BP

Total BPs: 10.5

I agree. Fins take a substantial amount of work out of swimming. I used to love using them when I trained because you can really jet with them on.

19.4 (previous total) + 6.0 = 25.4 pts ---- woohoo over 1/2 way to my minimum goal

150 pts - I will allow myself to buy all three :D :D

So, the key is motivation, motivation, motivation....

25.4 (previous) + 2.0 = 27.4 pts.
 
Walked half a mile at lunch today, walked 3/4 of a mile to and from the store tonight so that is 2 miles total for today... Bringing me up to 11.3
Went out for supper, went a 1.1 miles each way. two days ago I walked around down town, just fr the hell of it. ended up doing 2.3 miles.
 
I wear a fitbit flex activity tracker and walk a lot at work daily, plus I go to the gym daily and lift weights. Since I can only count walking, running, biking, and swimming then lifting heavy weights won't get me any points. Oh well, I'll just have to go with walking! Today I walked a total of 9.37 miles, so that gives me 9.37 becker points! Not sure if anything I'm doing will count since I didn't get in before the 15th, but I'm posting either way and maybe I can get a late entry...

It's not a contest or a competition. It's a personal challenge. The way I see it is you could get in at the end, and as long as you got out and did something over and above what you normally do it's all good. The challenge to do 50 Becker Points worth of exercise between November 15 and December 15. We're doing this to make our selves better, not for a prize with the exception of an "attaboy/attagirl". The way I see it is that doing with others helps hold us each accountable to keep going.
 
AW SHOOT....I KNOW I WALKED MORE THAN A MILE TODAY, BUT I'm JUST GOING TO POST UP AN ADDITIONAL 1/2 MILE SINCE IT REALLY ANNOYS THE CRAP OUTTA' ME TO LOOK AT POINT SOMETHING NUMBERS....

Ran and walked intervals on the treadmill for 2.07 miles. Walked my dog later for 1.5 miles.
11-25: 3.5

Current Total BP: 14.0
