My work truck is a 1994 F150, 4-wheel-drive, supercab, 5.0L engine. At 170,000 miles, I know it won't last forever, but I'm not spending money on a new truck for the gasfield.
Just sold my '95 Lincoln Mark VIII. 140,000 miles, still ran like new, but did need an occational repair now and then. Best-designed interior of any vehicle I've ever driven.
My 'new' car is a Honda S2000. Man, is it fun! And fast! Anyone who doesn't own a convertible that red-lines at 9,000 rpm is really missing the boat! It's my first Honda, my first import car ever, and my first convertible.
Wife's "family wagon" is a 2002 Lexus RX300. Aside from the typical ergonomic/design complaints that I have with many imports, it's a good car for Wife. Cargo room for dogs and baby seat, all-wheel drive, enough power to get around, and seems to be very well built.
Good Luck in your hunt! With the 0% financing from GM, I'd be tempted to buy a new GMC truck, if I needed one. 4-wheel drive, leather interior, supercab, and rear-wheel steering.
Quick question, why do you prefer cloth over leather? To me it seems that leather is ten-times easier to keep clean. Sure wish my truck was leather; I'll never get the dust, BO, and dog odors out of my cloth seats... All of our other vehicles are leather, and keeping them clean is no harder than a damp cloth and dab of conditioner.
Have you seen the new Lincoln trucks? To me a truck has always been just a truck. Of course there were some that I thought looked better than others, but none of them raised my pulse or anything like that. Ford, Chevy, Dodge, all just trucks. Until I saw the Lincoln Mark LT! My palms began to sweat, my pulse raced, and I felt a bit dizzy. Of course it's priced at a totally different market segment than myself...

We also have three motorcycles, Suzuki Savage (Wife's learner), Vulcan 500LTD, and Suzuki Volusia. If your goal is to save gas money, thet's the way to go. Even my bulky Volusia gets 40-50mpg, and I know Wife's Vulcan does better than that. Snap on some saddle bags, add a luggage rack, and you're good to go for up to two weeks (my max so far).
