Very nice Schrade.....I can see why it would be a constant companion. The 881 is definitely a bit older but it’s only been with me for about 5 years. Still a great and solid choice if looking to develop a friendship.

I don't know how long I've had this one, and never carried it much, there being smaller knives with more tools.
Thanks. I've just been sitting here appreciating its robustness.Functional precision, very nice Jer.

Here's a civilian version of Victorinox's GAK. Cool knife!![]()

It's a good one to take to the farm when volunteering starts again. It'll turn a lot of heads. Here's a civilian version of Victorinox's GAK. Cool knife!
Like you Jer, I appreciate it's robust utility but since I live in an urban environment it is not often carried. Usually only pocketed on an occasional walk in the woods but I do count it as an Old Friend.

The beds are put to bed and there isn't anything to do except occasionally feed the chickens when the paid folk are away. We should be planting seed trays in the greenhouse pretty soon, though, what with spring being right around the corner.screened porch
Yes, farms, fields, woods, camp settings etc are more suitable locations than where I reside.
Hey can I ask why farm volunteering is not currently occurring and what do you do there when it is?
Sounds like an enjoyable experience, you should be gettin' busy soon. The beds are put to bed and there isn't anything to do except occasionally feed the chickens when the paid folk are away. We should be planting seed trays in the greenhouse pretty soon, though, what with spring being right around the corner.
It's an organic CSA attached to a farmstead property attached to a nature center. Last year I mostly battled entropy at the kitchen garden of the farmhouse. I like to let the ghosts know they're not forgotten.
Nice German Army Knife Jer"No-one has ever escaped from Stalag 13!"

Wasn't that called the Safari? The GAKs were made by a number of different firms, kind of wish I'd collected them nowHere's a civilian version of Victorinox's GAK. Cool knife!

Any idea who TSR was?The GAKs were made by a number of different firms, kind of wish I'd collected them now![]()
It's certainly confusing!Yes Jack, Vic's Trooper has been called Safari and Safari Trooper.
My preferred name is Safari. However, SAKWiki lists it as "The Victorinox Trooper (a.k.a. the Safari Trooper)", so I chose to use Trooper when posting here earlier. Guess any one of three names are correct.
Interesting that there were so many GAK makers. I'm just glad to have one Safari/Trooper made by Victorinox whatever it gets called.![]()
Not that I can think of Jer, it's weird that there was so many makersAny idea who TSR was?
Google is flooded with Terzuola's survival Rescue knife for CRKT.It's certainly confusing!![]()
scruffuk bought a couple of those models, and contacted Victorinox to see if he buy saw-guards. They sent him a handful of them for free
