Love the old Tortoise Boker Jack:thumbup:

Thanks Paul, it's been lonesome (George) in the drawer too long! ;)

Great story my friend, I'm sure you treasure that Barlow even more now  I have one in the same pattern, my first TC Barlow, and a gift from Charlie :)

Happy Friday, everyone!

I love this idea of Old Friends Friday. It's good for me to look at what I have at least as much as what I want. Today I'm carrying my first GEC:

Great-looking knife R8shell, nice character

Well, it's Friday, and again following Jack's lead I have grabbed my long-owned old Owl Head sowbelly stockman in ram's horn.
Have a good'n everyone, and a good weekend, too.

Here's my own Boker for the day, my wee congress (chosen at the beginning of the week, just waiting for its Moment).

New Old Stock (early 70s) carbon-bladed Boker, my first knife purchase since a Victorinox Classic or two many years back:

Nice to see that P

Your Boker Barlow is pretty sweet too

Happy Friday! Have had this forever but rarely carry it and don't know why, it is a very handy knife. AG Russel Cattaraugus Trapper.

I've liked those as well Tom, does the main lock then unlock by depressing the Pen? I had a Weidmannseill knife that was similar minus the phillips screwdriver.

Hi Paul - yes, the main blade unlocks via depressing the pen blade. A pretty cool design, I have been looking for something similar for quite a while.

Today my old friends are the Taramundi gifted by Scruff, and the tiny shell handled Imperrial, which was my Uncle Camile's knife. As a teen I would help Uncle Cam out mowing, shoveling, assisting with odd jobs around his house. If it was a particularly warm summer day, sometimes he would split a beer with me when the job was done.

Nice post Duane :)
Thanks Jack :) Whenever I take that wee knife out and handle it, lotsa warm memories come to me. He and his wife Dotty were very nice folks, living a simple life. She would take the opportunity of a visitor to sneak a piece of candy, she was diabetic, I'd always stay a while and chat with them after helping out.

This one is with me today after getting left out of the rotation far longer than I intended.

It's definitely easier to find when dropped...

Great thread, Jack!

I don't often carry this knife because of its immense sentimental value, but I decided to bust it out since I'll just be in my office today. This Schrade Uncle Henry was the first knife I was given when I got my totin' chip. It was given to me by my grandmother some 20 odd years ago. I still remember how proud she was to give it to me proclaiming that "They had that on one the top shelf! Behind lock and key!" and how proud I was to have it.

In my teen years, I abused the hell out of it, bent the tip, neglected it (and it's significance), and eventually lost it. About 3 years ago, I was thinking about my Grandma, and I decided to go on a quest to find it knowing that I'd seen it in a box of crap from highschool in one of the several moves. After about a week of searching, I found it, bent the clip blade back into shape, re formed the tip on a belt sander and sharpened it up. Still as functional as the day I got it! Definitely an old friend.

my first GEC. Bought from a forum vendor at a clearance price. This 73 is beautifully finished and does just about every task for which I need a pocket knife.
