I have the model 30. Doesn't feel nearly as nice in the hand as a 1911 but it doesn't stop me from shooting really well with it either. It's really accurate and it never jams. Mine is an older model, the newer ones (SF's?) have a bit smaller grip.

Bumpin' this for the OP.

I've had my 17 for about 3 years now & I finally got around to replacing the factory sites on it. When you get yours, you want Truglo TFO sites! Santa gave me a little extra money for Christmas, so I had $100 burnin' a hole in my pocket. I put $10 with it, & and had the new sites put on & I dropped in a 3.5 ghost myself. These sites are stupid bright! I've had regular truglo, & meprolights on other guns, but nothing compares to the TFO's! Go check some out in person, because no picture on the internet can do 'em justice!

Don't let my forum name fool ya. I also have a 1st generation G21 in my carry rotation, especially now that winter haqs come. Shot the great 1911s, from gov't issue to one very expensive custom gun. Would love to have another just because every American gun fan should have a 1911. But when the SHTF, I'll be hurling lead with a Glock auto, or a S&W wheel gun.

BTW, I had a G30, just couldn't get used to that one, when I had a G26 and a G21.

Good luck on your personnal choice.

I just had the oppertunity of using some fancy timing equipment to assess various pistols for close protection work ... basically a bleeper system with a draw and shoot as fast as possible at a target 10 feet away ( 3 metres in Euro "Distance" ) ... the holsters were kydex screw tension in all cases worn on the right hip and were lightly set for a quick draw but not so light that you could not roll left or right without loss of the pistol when doing other "drills" ... no straps or other retention systems ... the fastest times I posted were with a Glock ... only fractions of a second difference ... but it all counts in my opinion if wearing a CCW for personal protection in the "most likely scenario".

The only quibble I had was that the timer settings/hit area were for centre mass hits whereas I believe head shots may be necessary because of the liklihood of encountering kevlar in the real world ... but the Glock is a very fast weapon ... my difference between a cocked and locked pistol and the Glock averaged 0.4 of a second ... the shots were all fired from the hip upon clearing the holster ... the equipment was "state of the art" and only "hits" within the centre mass stopped the clock ...

Interesting results which made me realise the benefit of the Glock system ...

I have trijicon Novak nights sights on my 30 and 30sf and trijicon hd orange nights sights on my 21gen4. Love them both!

I have G21 Gen4. It's one of the most accurate and softest shooting non-1911s .45s out there. Get it and you won't regret it.

I have an old Glock 30 (.45 subcompact, 10+1 capacity). It's a good gun, but a bit chunky for concealed carry, IMO. But in the extremely unlikely event I were even in a gunfight, I'd rather have it than the KelTec P3AT I'd probably be carrying.

I guess if Glock produces enough unergonomic pistols, then by probability one or two should work out of every ten thousand or so.

That's Hi Point's mentality too :D :D

What the hell, blown up Glock 36 pic required :D

When the guy brought this into the shop, it made my week :D

I can't believe I had to read half way through page four befiore I got to the first kaBOOM!

I have owned and carried countless 1911's. Gov't and Commanders, and I am a 1911 fanatic, but some years back a friend turned me onto Glocks. He too has owned many different 1911's and still likes them, but wanted another carry option, where he didn't have to worry about cleaning and rust.

I've had a 17,19, 21, and for the last 6 or 7 years, I've been carrying a 36. At first it wasn't very comfortable in my big hands, so I did dome judicious reshaping.
The big thing that helped was relieving the area at the back of the trigger guard. It helped me be able to get a higher grip.
I also reshaped the thumb relief, slightly reduced the finger bumps on the front strap, and removed the hook on the front of the trigger guard. I did a trigger job just to clean it up, and took the trigger apart so I could remove a little burr in the plastic, and also rounded the edges on the trigger.

It has thousands of round through it, and never had a FTF. Out of the all the Glocks I've owned, which all had thousands of rounds through them, I have only had one FTF.
That was caused by a box of Winchester white box ammo, that Winchester admittedly loaded extremely hot. It split the caes and would not fully extract the round...

Most Glocks are FAR more accurate than most of the people that shoot them. HOwever, if the pistol doesn't fit the shoOter, they won't be able to shoot as well as they might otherwise.
1911's will always be my favorite, but the Glocks serve a purpose, and they do it very well.

Anyway, heres the 36...

I can't decide between the 30SF and 36 darn it. I like the capacity of the 30 but prefer the hand feel of the 36. Like John mentioned above, I'm honest enough with myself to know that I'm more likely to carry the p3at no matter which one I get. :D I think that means I should go with the 30...

Rolf, did you get one yet ?

Can't go wrong with the 21, but the HK USP, and Sig 220 are my two favorites.

One of the reasons Glocks are such great pistols is the trigger reset. Same goes for the 1911. Both have short trigger resets, which is the distance the trigger must move after firing to fire another round. Why is this a good thing? A trained user will be able to shoot faster. Glocks and 1911s are the dominant platforms for shooting sports such as uspsa, ipsc, idea, steel challenge, etc. Sigs and M&Ps can also be converted to shorter trigger resets with factory or after market parts.

Reset is not an issue for a range gun, but duty, sport, and defense weapons can benefit from this feature.

My current collection includes Glocks, tuned up Sigs, a Les Baer TRS, Colt Python, and sundry greater and lesser pistols.

Shoot safe.

I have a G30 and G36. The G36 is my carry when legally able to do so. With the magazine extension it has the same capacity as my Kimber Raptor II or my Ed Brown Kobra Carry. I would get the G21 (and still may) but my Springfield XD45 fills that bill currently. I had a Sig P220, and a H&K USP 45, but didn't care for the SA/DA trigger for a carry gun. I have numerous other handguns, but keep coming back to my Glocks.
