Our "Front Porch" ....

Earlier the bear coversation around me turned to a image hunt for a shaven bear...they go from cute/agressive to WTF? once hair is removed.

Today's a big day for me! Something special coming in the mail. Pics to be posted here and on the Hinderer Pics page later today....

A little "Comic Relief" - Not a tame stunt Bear, I wasn't armed with anything but a cell phone camera and it wasn't "zoomed" in.
Don't try this at Home :) Enjoy! (Tap on Pic - its a video)

I'll say F.O. - I've run into Military trained Drug Cartel assassins in Honduras (mid-80's) that weren't as crafty and slick as the Great N/E Chipmunk.
I (of course) started with the PC/Humane route of the "live trap" - that was a joke. They went in, stole the bait and painted graffitti on the walls.
Mouse traps with peanut butter and oatmeal - licked clean tripped and flipped.
It's sniper time.
Just gotta get up pre-dawn and wait.

Gotta watch out for the varmint-cong..

I actually feel very lucky to live amongst Gods creatures. I joined them, they aren't invading me.
I try and live with them the way I wish mankind can someday grasp - mutual respect.
Granted I will clock Mr. Black if he tries to kill my Friend...
I do not let chippy the monk pursue his vegetarian diet at the expense of my garden.
All and all we get along.

I'm a hunter, and while not opposed to trophies I do my best to hunt for food and view the pelt, antlers, etc as a nice bonus/momento..

We regularly see moose, foxes, and snowshoes on our property - often within spitting distance. Recently I was awoken by my wife charging into the bedroom and ripping open the curtains to watch a black bear amble his way up the hill just outside our window, having just left the back deck :) I completely agree with feeling lucky to live among the critters - while I have no problem putting any of those in the freezer (well, not the fox), I'd rather sit and watch them do what they do... With the exception of snacking on our 12 y/o black lab - she does't get around very well any more and would make easy pickings for a hungry bear, so I keep a close eye on her when she goes out.

Now, on the other hand, early spring black bears from Prince William Sound make great rugs and even better chili, burgers, sausage, and pepperoni sticks :)

(Oh, I stuck my XM-18 in the pic to make this post semi-Hinderer relevant...)

Um..... Wonder what that could be :D

As for the bear thing. Man, I'm so envious of you guys. I'll be living in the mountains one of these days, but for now am stuck in sunny Florida. Flat, palm trees and sand. :) Working on moving to NC as soon as I possibly can.

I'll comment on the Wharnies here to keep the photo thread more pics than words...

Guys, those fall into the category of knives that I cannot understand why they went up for resale.

I totally agree. And the boxes are signed from the get together. Why in the world would one let one of these go?

They popped up here on BF in the exchange the other night. A guy posted that he had one for sale but his pic had two and maprik had already snagged the first. I messaged him and asked if he was selling both and he said yes so I grabbed the second. I was so stoked.

Sitting in the airport killing time I came upon the for sale ad just a few minutes after it posted. I grabbed it as fast as I could type... Just dumb luck...

Love Humor! :) Now, Here is something Peaceful to watch - Tough to catch on film, I was maybe 4 feet away. (Tap on it, It's a Video)

For those who may not know, Very unusual to see Two Hummingbirds in the same place (not fighting) very territorial little guys.
The time He is hovering, he is looking down at a chipmunk that had just come out of his hole - Took all my will power to not keep filming and pick up the gun in my lap. :)
