Our "Front Porch" ....

Damn AZ2AK!! That's quite the story my friend. I'm glad you have made it out alive and unharmed(minus the pride) ;).

Sounds like everything is working out right :) Enjoy the new truck!

Mine is paid off, so I won't be working with any heaters anytime soon ;)

Well, here's a quick "after" pic.. Might call her the "Phoenix" ;)

As much as the initial situation sucks for you brother (honestly no bueno at all) - Trucks have came a long way in that time frame and you'll hopefully love the new one! The loss of that trump card though.... true tragedy!!!

Wow - no kidding, this thing is definitely a step up from the '06! Not sure where to start other than to say this is nice silver-lining to the whole mess.. Nothing will be able to mitigate the loss of the trump card though :o My commander also thought it would be funny to use the pic of the burnt up carcass as part of his holiday safety brief to the Sq yesterday - everybody's a comedian...

OH - hopefully this won't raise any forum red flags, but for any military folks out there considering buying from GM - google "GM military incentive program". I got a hell of a deal and this was the easiest, most hassle/aggravation-free car buying experience I've ever had! I paid significantly less than what I was prepared to pay AND the dealer DROPPED the final price from what we had agreed to over the phone before I went in... (got a couple of free hats too :o )

Thanks! Yep - I'm going to be paranoid about space heaters for some time to come I think..

That's a beautiful truck Shane. I like the color. I test drove the Chevys and really liked them but I got a great deal on my crew cab f-150 so I went that route instead. Hey who knows maybe my f150 will catch fire and I can snag a new Chevy sometime soon. :)

Thanks Jensen, same color as my last one - actually same truck, just 8 years younger.. (and better, faster, stronger...)

Lol, yeah that's been one of several joke themes floating around my Sq this past weekend :o

Sorry to hear about your truck! I drive the half ton version of the same truck (same blue granite color too actually), and I can't imagine losing it. This also serves as a great PSA for those heaters. I use one all of those all the time and probably never pay enough attention to it. At least now you have a killer new truck- even if your wife can give you hell for awhile.

Yeah, I use them all the time too - which is why I didn't really give a second thought to using it by the truck.. My old boat had an enclosed cabin but no heater/defroster so I would typically put the Heater Buddy (this one in fact) on the floor between the two front seats to help with the windows fogging over..

I'm thinking that technique is flawed :o

Glad your ok,AZ2, and glad you've got a new truck, your very lucky on all counts......especially about the neighborhood, that would really be scary! those fir trees in the background have snow on them, but still yikes! Hope we've all learned a valuable lesson from this one, like about heaters, matches, tacos, teasing spouses........ok fade in Smokey the bear.....

wheres the pic of the new truck!

Now that I can see your truck better on my laptop, I totally regret getting the 1/2 ton instead of 3/4. Even beyond the extra power, they just look better. Did you go for diesel or gas?

Also, and unrelated, I'm sure that has been purposed/brought up/asked about before, but if there is someway we could set up a Hinderer exclusive trading forum that would be awesome. It would be nice to have a place to swap hardware and scales, even if not XM's. I've found myself not very active in looking through all the trade forums lately- largely because I'm not really looking for anything, but I think I'd definitely be more inclined to at least check the Hinderer accessories (even if we didn't do knives) thread at least daily. I'm sure this has been brought up before in some fashion, and hopefully I'm not out of line asking, but is there any way we could do this (and would other people find it useful)?

NJ awhile back Rubi set this type of thread up and it sort of grew feet and became a sub division of the exchange so it was closed. Maybe PM Rubi to see if a different type of thread would pass muster, good idea though.

In regards to a Hinderer based trading/sales forum, I know they tried to do it on the CRK forum and CRK agreed but it still hasn't been created. I think Spark is really busy. I agree, it would be cool to have a seperate section in the exchange (a la Busse) for Hinderer items:)

Based on the fact that everybody is Ok and there is a nice New truck in the wings.....

Two Guys walk into a Bar and the one says, " Hey anybody in here Help me fix a leak on my Truck?"
Everybody in the Bar yells, " Whatever you do - Don't ask Shane!!" Ha!

Just made that one up :)

Uh make sure you keep your day job :D

Oh, and the new truck isn't in the wings - it's in the driveway!!

Got the valuation back on my old truck from the insurance company this morning so it's all resolving nicely..

Time is a man-made concept. It's own true existence can be called into question. Humans use it to understand and discuss certain concepts for which the concept of time is necessary. Yes, it's linear; perhaps cone-shaped as you said..but it's certainly over-lapping layers (like a very large folded blanket viewed from the side to see the folds)...draw a vertical line thru all the folds and its possible to see "alternate" realities co-existing along the same plain even if not interacting with one another.

Anyone wana talk about black holes? :D

I do! Right up my alley. .consider this...if us humans have reached the point of creating simulated worlds, which we have, who's to say we aren't all living in just one videogame on a floor to ceiling shelf of thousands of videogames...from each videogame system. I believe in time overlapping and taking different paths, everytime that road forks, and history takes us right, what's LEFT? somone look up "alex collier" on youtube, watch the 1994 interview with a VERY open mind. Lets chew on this for a few! ;)

Damn shane, I'm glad everything worked out! Boy, it sounds like ruff livin in AK, jeesh. I like it. ;)

Killer new truck too, my buddy jarrod has the exaact same thing, super nice truck bro. I'm sure pulling away in that bad boy made losing the ol pheonix alittle bit easier huh? :)

Good luck w that weather and the new wheels brother! Stay away from them space heaters, good god. You can't win with space heaters...even the crap electric ones bone you because they draw 1500 watts!! Can't win. Atleast the lesson was learned BEFORE anyone being hurt. The re-evaluation of those heaters could be a life saver, literally. Its gotta be tuff way up there w those temps tho, probly near impossible to avoid heaters.

Glad all is well my friend.

Cool! That new one is a stomper. I imagine it is quite an upgrade inside and out.
