Our "Front Porch" ....

This is just one of the many reasons why I like to come here, converse and associate with all you'se.... Just a good group of great people :) Thanks for sharing everyone. And thanks for the tips.

I do not have any kids yet... The wife and I are working on that.... So time will tell.... I'm excited though :)

Shane what you going to reveal buddy? Mailman = something good

Oh, a little this and a little that ;)

Some AR parts, some XM parts, and something I'll post some pics of perhaps this weekend.. :)

Good to see great things happening. Lights M.I.A. - (Found), Guys back from Vegas, Knives being enjoyed and every day ticks by Old Man Winter draws diminishing breaths.

A "thought for the day" for the coming year. Be Nice - that's it, just be Nice and Nicer. I think the World around us would be a better place to awaken to and walk around "If" we could be nicer.
That means taking the lead and not waiting - it also means to those around us, our Family and Friends as well as ourselves. It also means - Here.
One of the things that keeps us coming back is the very real sense or feeling of acceptance/comradery/friendship/common bond that exists - Here.
So, if it is communicating with a "regular" or welcoming a "newbie" that may become a regular, it's a great way to put a first step forward to living the thought for a day and maybe making it a habit for life.
Maybe a good way to gauge behavior is to simply ask ourselves - would I appreciate being treated this way? Depending on the answer will direct us to either the button for "Submit" or the one for "Delete" - either way it only takes an extra couple seconds.

Just a thought :) for today.

Well said Rubi ! Another cold one in the NE. I decided to trade my 2010 Outback in, so the wife and I will be picking up the new chariot later this afternoon. We went with 2014 Outback Limited, great in snow and has the winter package, leather heated leather seats (yea) front and rear windshield defrosters, and heated mirrors. With a brand new set of snow/ mud tires I'll be ready for the rest of the winter.

^ FO congrats on the new ride. Those heated seats are going to be key tomorrow buddy. Windchills approaching minus thirty. Yikes! Gotta love winter in upstate NY! Haha.

Rubi very wise words to live by. I try to live my life that way. Sometimes it's difficult but I find in hindsight I'm always glad I took the high road.

I had the rather pleasant opportunity to drive my BIL's 2014 Outback Limited with winter package just this last Saturday night.
I was impressed. Congrats! and Best of luck with it. Subaru's are great vehicles.

Thanks, more the wife's car, I just get to pay for it. My 10 year old Wrangler is my ride.

The conversation on the ride did include his plan to give "her" the Subaru so he could regain a truck in his life. They are popular with the Ladies moreso than Guys.
I liked driving it but couldn't actually DD one.

Congrats on the new whip, Final. Heated seats are a feature the ladies love. For me, I keep them off or on a/c (lowest setting) no matter the outside temp.--as I find in winter clothing, while in a heated vehicle, it's nice to have options to better regulate temps.

Rubi...nice words. As for being "nice or nicer" I assure you all that I'm more pleasant on the forums than IRL.

Sweet new ride FO!!! Sounds like you and the wife will be spoiled in it :)

Rubi... I agree, be nice to everyone. Treat others as you would like to be treated... I need to work on that sometimes. Thanks for that

Well, almost two solid weeks of above freezing temps and sporadic sunshine has melted almost all of the snow off of my back deck.

It may not actually be Spring, but it sure feels like it. That means BBQ :D

Spent the day yesterday inside at work staring at the sun on our security cams, but off today and tomorrow!! Chores today, but tomorrow I have a date with beer and/or whiskey, a cigar or two, and the smoker!!

Off to track down a brisket or two and maybe some ribs for the BGE ;)

Sorry SE US!!!

I love it! Warm January/February barbecuing in Alaska and it's suppose to be snowing here Sunday when I fire up the big green egg. Texas may have snow when Alaska doesn't- it's been a strange winter :D

On an unrelated note, I haven't been around as much the week or so because helping finish up the the remodeling of my mom's house had dominated my life. When my stepdad, who was a contractor, passed away last August her house was mid remodel. We are now finally, and slowly, in the closing stages. Last week when everything seemed to be scheduled to wind up on the biggest part of the project, all hell broke loose and it's been a nightmare ever since. All I can say is thankfully I'm a minimalist and big house/add-on problems are something I doubt I'll ever have to deal with again. Type A personality, perfectionism, and a short temper for laziness do not mix well with construction.

NjHart, what is the big deal with remodeling? They redo an entire kitchen on TV in an hour? Yea right, the reality of it it's a reality show with an army of carpenters, plumbers, electricians, code enforcement prior approval, masons, and lots of grunt labor. Lots of credit to you undertaking such a huge project for your mom, I'm sure it will be greatly appreciated by her.

Done more than my fair share of remodeling, modeling, demolition and mistake making. I don't know why but I have always found it very relaxing (little more "neck-down" type work than what I do on a daily basis maybe) not that building/construction isn't "neck-up" too but just a different kind. 2x4"s don't bitch and complain and power tools are..... well, nuff said.:)
God Bless "Mom". Wish I still had mine with me to do something for. I miss hearing her voice, " Scott, would you do something for me, I hate to ask but I know it'll only take you a few minutes".
Mom thought I could fix anything and build anything in a couple minutes with a finger nail clipper and a paper clip. I miss her. Everyday.
It has been a strange and challenging Winter, just wrote a check to the electric company for $716.68 (ouch!)
I never have cared much for Winter and neither did my Mom. I used to whisper in her ear when I'd kiss her good-by, "Hold on sweetie, we just have to make it to spring"
Mom died in February that year, we didn't make it to spring that time".

Heartfelt story about your Mom Rubi, sounds like you were very close, unfortunately when they are gone that void remains inside of us forever. Since my Dad passed away my mother still lives on the family farm in a century old farmhouse that has been my task to keep running. Between replacing the hot water heater, pulling the frozen water pump from the well, and fixing her washing machine last week it has been a busy week. Same request that you use to get about fixing this and that, but there is nothing any of us wouldn't do for them, god bless all mothers, living and those that have passed.
