Our "Front Porch" ....

Yes, first day of Spring, but we are looking at low 30's next week with possible snow. In my shop I have my grass cutting machines ready, however the jeep still has the plow mounted. The transition week from late winter to mid spring is going to require much effort and lots of topsoil, grass seed and straw to repair the ravages of my plowing handiwork.

I wish Blade was now, it would give me one more reason to leave this tundra until the real Spring shows up!

Ahh yes, Armageddon may well involve plows.
They can be wonderful and dangerous.
I wonder who it was that first strapped a large blade to
The front of his truck and went driving around in the pitch
Dark plowing the indiscernible mid-storm.
I can hear the screams now, " Here he comes again! Run!"

Ugh, my snow thrower is also at the ready, and the snow tires on my daily driver are still on.
However, today was a beautiful day! (The next two, maybe more, not so much.) I installed a new Pioneer touch screen stereo in my GTO, and put on my newly acquired oem option 18" used wheels/tires (which I consider fun). The smoking of the well worn tires on the wheels was the highlight of my day, as this is the first car in my 36 years that I have be able to easily "light 'em up". I predict a few more displays of more than adequate horsepower shall be executed before new rubber, which arrived earlier this week, will be equipped. :D

BT, I'm with you on this, ah the fresh smell of spinning rubber, and oh that sound is so sweet ! If you have never experienced bike burnouts, now that is something to behold, truly awesome. Men who normally don office attire during the week, suit up in leathers and chain driven wallets on a warm spring weekend (at undisclosed Adirondack Bar and Syracuse watering hole) mount their trusty steeds and with the help of a few beers and a cheering crowd proceed to lock up their front wheel and to the delight of the crowd spin the back tire. They spin it so fast that it creates billows of dark rubber infused clouds, shreds of molten rubber flying and then the moment all wait for the unmistakeable pop of the freshly mounted OEM Dunlop. And for his gallant crowd pleasing effort he returns to the bar, a hero for the moment and is treated to a free beer and maybe a couple of shots of JD!

This is a sure sign of spring!

Ahhh yes.... the smell of burning rubber and sound of pavement shredding Horse Power and Torque - BooYah!!

One summer a couple years ago I was leaving town in my SS. I'm sitting there behind the guy with the Stop/Slow sign baking in the sun with the T-Tops out.
Guys on the paving crew were oggling Mr. Black sitting there doing the "Cam-Rock". Sign turns from "Stop" to "Slow" except..... the crew gave the old "light em' up sign (universal) so, why not... I was getting sick of those tires anyway. I hit the line-lock and put her in 1st, took it up to about 4k and dropped the dual clutch.
About the time the rear wheel wells were completely pumping out white smoke I let the locks go. Everyone had cleared the way.... I'm not sure who was more surprised when the pavement started to give way under Both rear tires but  they definately had a "Re-Do" on the new roadway for a couple hundred feet or so.

Ha! I know that joy too. (thus the screen name) my Favorite two(2) rigs when they were parked side-by-side in the garage. Both Black/ Both heavily "personalized"
One High, one Low :) Different mood enhancer for sure.

Getting old, can't remember where Shane posted "Wharnie Wednesday" (least I remembered how to spell the day, I think)

Ah...Rubicon you have the black wharnie that haunts me at night...LOL That is by far the nicest wharnie I have seen IMO. Well done.
